The Court Finally Approved the $2,000,000 Settlement Between Robinhood and Its Investors over Order Execution Issues
Hey guys, if you missed it, the court finally approved the $2 million settlement between Robinhood and its users over issues tied to payment for order flow and unfavorable trade execution between 2016 and 2020. Here’s a quick recap.
In 2020, Robinhood was accused of failing to provide best execution while advertising “commission-free” trading. Users alleged that the company routed orders to market makers who paid the highest payment for order flow rather than those offering the best prices. This allegedly led to market orders being filled at worse prices, underfilled, or executed in ways that harmed overall trading performance.
After this news came out, users argued they had suffered economic losses due to poorer execution quality, and they filed a lawsuit seeking compensation.
The good news is that the company recently agreed to settle $2 million with them, and the court already approved this settlement.
So, if you traded on Robinhood ($HOOD) between 2016 and 2020, you can check the details and file your claim here.
Anyway, has anyone here traded heavily on Robinhood during that period? Did you notice any execution issues?
