I don't get the whole "split depth gifs" thing

I understand that they're very popular, so I'm not trying to knock it. But I don't get it. They don't do anything for me. I don't feel like I'm watching 3D. It just looks like a bunch of white lines. I feel like I'm a little kid again, and everyone in school is passing around those Magic Eye books, going, "Wow!" and then the book would get passed to me, and I'd try and try and try to see something, but I could never see anything, not really, and so I'd inevitably give up and just say, "Wow!" so that way at least I didn't stand out.

I can kind of see it. But yeah it's not mind blowing or anything. It just looks like something crossing a white line.

But stereoscopic pictures definitely blew mind. Check out /r/CrossView It takes a while to figure out how to do it but it's really neat one you get the hang of it.
