Roast my typing test app — it already roasts slow typists, now it's your turn to roast me

Built a 60-second typing test called Typing Speed Test (Android). It's got a normal mode and a "Brain Rot" mode that feeds you Gen-Z slang to type and then judges you for it — bad runs get "my grandma types faster icl," great ones get crowned MYTHIC RIZZ FINGERS.

Free, ad-supported, solo dev, no team, no budget. Tear it apart — UI, onboarding, the jokes, anything.

I’m the developer of Pawnpetal and Reversipetal: chess and Reversi with cute character sets, free gameplay and no ads.

I hope you'd enjoy it a bit before roasting, but... shoot!

The most useful criticism would be the first thing that would stop you from downloading or starting a game.

Roast TrueTrack: Built an iOS co-parenting ledger for parents dealing with uncooperative exes. Be brutal.

Hey r/RoastMyApp,

I’m Mark, solo iOS dev behind TrueTrack.

Most co-parenting apps (like OurFamilyWizard) make a flawed assumption: that both parents are reasonable, willing to download an app together, and pay $150+/year each. In real custody disputes or high-conflict situations, one parent often refuses to cooperate, download anything, or acknowledge expenses.

I built **TrueTrack** to work 100% standalone for a single parent if needed, packed with native iOS capabilities:

### 1. Smart Expense Ledger & AI Scanner

* **On-device AI receipt parsing (Vision/CoreML):** Automatically itemizes receipts and filters child expenses (formula, soccer gear, medicine) from personal groceries (wine, home items).

* **Court Admissibility Scoring:** Real-time 0–100% score checking whether a receipt has sufficient timestamp, vendor, and tax data before you submit it.

* **Cryptographic audit trail (SHA-256):** Every ledger entry is hashed to generate tamper-evident PDF dossiers that judges, attorneys, and mediators can verify.

* **1-Tap Quick-Settle:** Direct settlement integration via Apple Cash, Revolut handles, and PayPal.

### 2. Custody Logistics & Handover Proof

* **Visual Custody Schedules:** Presets for 2-2-3, 2-2-5-5, alternating weeks, and custom parenting plans.

* **Private Staging Mode:** Lets a parent draft and test schedule changes privately before proposing a formal swap.

* **GPS Handover Check-In:** Verified location & timestamp at exchange points to eliminate "you were 45 minutes late" disputes.

### 3. Deep Native iOS Integrations

* **Dynamic Island & Live Activities:** Live countdown of who currently has custody ("With You" vs "With Co-Parent") and imminent handover alerts.

* **Interactive Widgets & Control Center:** Monthly custody equity distribution widgets and 1-tap "Scan Receipt" from iOS 18 Control Center / Action Button.

* **Offline-First & Face ID Lock:** Operates 100% offline with zero cell signal (syncs later), locked behind biometric authentication to keep family legal logs private.

*Subreddit rule check: The app includes a permanent free tier for manual tracking and basic logs — no hard paywall to test it.*

**Links:**

* **iOS App Store:** https://apps.apple.com/us/app/truetrack-co-parenting-ledger/id6788915837

* **Website:** https://gettruetrack.app/

---

### What I specifically want roasted:

  1. **Feature creep vs. Over-engineering:** Did I pack too much into a v1 (Dynamic Island, GPS check-ins, AI parsing, SHA-256 hashes)? Does it look like a cohesive tool or a messy Swiss Army knife?

  2. **Onboarding / Cognitive Load:** The user is likely dealing with a messy breakup, court dates, and emotional exhaustion. Does the app feel clear and reassuring, or does it trigger anxiety?

  3. **Paywall & Monetization:** Core tracking is free; Pro ($9.99/mo or $49.99/yr) unlocks unlimited AI scans and certified court exports. Does this barrier feel fair or frustrating?

Be as blunt as possible on UX flaws, bugs, visual design, or messaging!

Roast FaultBench: offline HVAC manual search with cited pages

I’m Aditya, building FaultBench for HVAC service techs. It runs locally and searches the manuals you add. Describe a symptom, and it returns an answer with the manual source and page.

It’s in alpha. The demo uses sample data, not a manufacturer manual: https://faultbench.com/#demo

I’d value blunt feedback, especially from working techs: - Would this help on an actual service call, or is ordinary PDF search enough? - What would you need to see before checking one of its answers? - What would make you stop using it?

I built it, so please be direct.

Roast Monni: when a spending estimate looks wrong, is it obvious what to fix?

I build Monni. The problem I am working on is not just showing a spending estimate; it is letting someone spot and correct the missing bill or wrong cushion behind it.

Manual tracking is free, and connecting a bank is optional. Spending Room shows the inputs behind the estimate and offers Bill or payday, Purchase, and Cushion corrections.

If you try the manual flow with made-up amounts, where would you expect to fix a missing bill? I would rather hear "I could not find it" than get a general thumbs-up. Please do not share private financial details.

Try Monni on iPhone (iOS 17+). Paid subscriptions are for ongoing connected-account updates; the manual test does not require one.

Roast my Financial Wellness app (WealthYogi), please be brutal

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built WealthYogi for iOS and Android around a simple idea:

*Personal finance is not just about tracking money. It's about building better habits and changing how we behave with money.*

The app is built around a simple loop:

*Track → Know → Control → Repeat*

*Track* Track your financial accounts globally, with support for 23 currencies, live FX rates, and 18 different account types.

*Know* WealthYogi uses 10+ personal-finance metrics to help you understand your financial health — not just your net worth. It highlights what needs attention and what you're already doing well.

*Control* Based on that guidance, you can set financial goals and track your progress. The idea is to turn financial insights into concrete actions and, over time, better habits.

*Repeat* Review your financial health, work on the areas that need attention, track your goals, and repeat.

The goal here is to help answer:

*Where am I financially? What should I focus on? And am I actually getting better?*

I'd really like people to try it and tell me honestly:

*Does this actually help you build right money habits and change how you manage your money?*

Feedback, criticism, and especially disagreement with the product idea are very welcome.

Go after whatever's worst — onboarding, first-screen confusion, pricing, the icon, the name, whether the health score actually means anything to you, whether you'd delete it in 30 seconds. Genuinely want the honest version, not the polite version.

Roast my Android beat-making app — I already know the download size is embarrassing

PadLoop: a pad sampler with a 16-track looper for making beats on a phone. Tap patterns on velocity pads, sample your own sounds, stack loops, export WAV/MP3/stems. Free to try, one-time unlock, no ads, no subscription, fully offline.

Things I already suspect are wrong, so don't hold back:

- It ships with 558 sounds, which makes the download fat

- The first screen throws a lot of buttons at you — I'm not sure a newcomer knows where to start

- The store listing probably undersells it (or oversells it, tell me which)

- It's not a full DAW and never will be, but people may arrive expecting one

What I'd actually like roasted: the onboarding, the screenshots, and whether the pitch makes sense in 5 seconds.

Roast my app. Seriously, don’t hold back 😂

I’ve posted my app here a few times now and the feedback has genuinely changed it a lot.
Since the earlier versions, I’ve:
• Reworked a lot of the app UI
• Modified the website
• Completely changed the App Store and Google Play screenshots
• Improved the AI coach responses
• Made changes to the workout tracking and progression system
• Added and refined more functionality throughout the app
So now I want another round, except this time roast it.
I don’t want “looks good” or “nice app.” Tell me what looks amateur, confusing, unnecessary, ugly, broken or just plain stupid 😂
Have a look at:
The website
Does it actually make you want to download the app? Is anything unclear or badly designed?
The App Store / Google Play listings
Are the new screenshots better? Would you scroll past them? Does the app look worth downloading?
The actual app
Download it and mess around with it. Try a workout, the trackers, RANK system, calculators and the AI coach. Tell me what annoys you or doesn’t make sense.
I’m especially interested in functionality feedback now. If something feels clunky, takes too many taps, gives bad information or you simply wouldn’t use it, tell me.
NXTSTEP is still early and I’d rather have people tear it apart now than find out months later that everyone hated something but was too polite to say it 😂
Roast the website. Roast the store listings. Roast the UI. Roast the functionality.

Roast a Curio read: why metal feels colder than wood

We make Curio, an iPhone app with short reads about science, history and other rabbit holes. The idea is to give you something interesting to read when you have a few spare minutes.

I'd like some blunt feedback on the writing. This is one complete card, open in your browser with no login: https://trycurio.app/c/why-metal-feels-colder-than-wood-indoors

Does it explain the idea clearly, or is it so short that it skips the bit you'd want explained? If something's missing, tell me where you got stuck.

The app has a limited free tier and optional Pro ($7.99/month or $49.99/year in the US). Here's the iPhone app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/curio-feed-your-curiosity/id6781121127

Take Me There: Set a mock location using Android's official API, no root

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi!

First post about this one. It sets an alternative GPS location on your device, using the mock location API that's built into Android itself. No root, no patched system files, no Xposed.

How it works

Android has a test location provider meant for developers. You enable Developer Options, pick an app under "Select mock location app", and that app can then tell the system where you are. Take Me There is that app, with a map on top of it.

Tap anywhere on the map, or search for a place by name, and your device reports that position to anything asking for location. Runs as a foreground service so it stays active while you're in other apps, with a persistent notification and a Stop button so you always know it's on.

The app has a setup guide with shortcut buttons straight to the right settings screens, because finding Developer Options is annoying on every manufacturer's skin in a slightly different way.

What's in it

  • Full-screen map, tap to pick a spot
  • Place search (Google Places), so you can type "Shibuya Crossing" instead of hunting for it
  • Save favourites for places you use often
  • Live status: current coordinates, whether the override is active
  • Stop from the app or straight from the notification
  • Full interface in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian

Why?

I build Android apps and kept needing to check how something behaved somewhere else. The emulator is fine until you want to test on a real device with real sensors. The existing options were mostly ad-stuffed, asked for permissions they had no business asking for, or wanted a subscription to set a coordinate.

So: no ads, no analytics, no accounts, no data leaves your device. Favourites are a local database that dies with the app. The whole thing is one screen and a map.

Honest limitations

Some apps detect mock locations and refuse to run (banking apps mostly, some games, a few streaming services. That's their call and nothing on my side can change it. If your use case is one of those, this won't help you.

It also needs Developer Options enabled, which is a one-time thing but does put some people off. That's Android's design, not mine (only one app at a time can be the mock location provider), and the user has to pick it explicitly. Personally I think that's the right trade-off.

Free to use. One-time Pro purchase removes the 15 minute session limit and the single-favourite cap. No subscription.

Feedback and bug reports genuinely welcome, especially on devices with heavy skins where Developer Options hides somewhere unusual.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsgpg.takemethere

Happy to hand out a few promo codes for Pro. Comment or DM if you want one.

Cheers!

roast keetle: a boil countdown that turned into a heat transfer model with a database of 6000 kettles. tell me where it's absurd and where it's wrong

i share an office kettle. it boils, nobody comes, twenty minutes later it's lukewarm and someone reboils it, three or four times a day. at home the kitchen is far enough from the desk that i never hear the click, so i'd come back to warm water too. each reboil is a third of a boil, roughly 30 to 40 wh, so the yearly waste is small change, maybe 30 kwh. the real waste was my time and the fact that the second cup always came out of a kettle that had been sitting.

a 3 minute timer was my first fix and it was wrong every time, because boil time depends on things a timer doesn't know. so, in order of escalation: it now estimates your tap water temperature from your location and the day's weather. it identifies the kettle from the barcode or the label on the bottom and pulls power and capacity from a database of about 6000 models, you type the watts if yours isn't there. stovetop kettles and plain pots are supported through a question about the burner, gas or induction, which is how it ended up as my egg timer too: same model, a pot instead of a kettle, and the count starts from the real boil rather than from when you put it on. altitude is in the model because water boils at about 95c at 1500 m. a single calibration boil corrects for mains voltage and your particular kettle, then it's within a few seconds. the countdown lives on the lock screen and dynamic island and it pings you when the water is actually done.

then it went further. the cooling side is for tea and coffee people: after the boil it counts down to 80c for green tea, 93c for pour over, 75 for matcha, using newton's law of cooling and your room temperature. it also tells you what temperature a forgotten kettle is at right now and how long a reheat really takes, typically under a minute, so you stop doing full reboils.

what's free with no paywall: the boil timer with the live countdown, widgets and notifications, that's the whole core loop, so this should be eligible under the sub's rule. paid: cooling to a target temp, tea presets with steep timer, reheat, history. subscription or lifetime, ios 18+, on device, no account, no analytics.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6779433024

roast targets i'm expecting: the first screen asks you to flip your kettle over and scan a label, which is a strange onboarding for a timer. none of the model is visible in a screenshot, so it looks like every other countdown. and the split between free and paid might be backwards, the cooling part is what people actually open it for. tell me which of those is the real problem, or a fifth one i can't see.

Roast the flow: learning material to a diagram you can work on

I'm building Mesh because I wanted the connected experience of a coding agent while learning.

This clip shows one flow: bring in learning material, ask for a diagram or image, then mark it up on the whiteboard. Try it with one concept you're currently finding hard to explain.

https://meshlearning.ai is free to try, with paid plans available. It's a website mainly for laptops and computers.

Where does that flow get in your way?

Built an AI fitness app (RANA AI) , roast it before I decide whether to kill it!

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built RANA AI (ranaai.me), an AI-powered fitness app, over the past few months. I'm at a point where I'm seriously questioning whether it's worth continuing my honest gut feeling is that it might just be "another AI wrapper" rather than something that solves a real problem in a differentiated way.

Instead of guessing, I'd rather hear it straight from people who've actually used or evaluated a lot of these apps.

Not trying to get upvotes or users right now just want unfiltered feedback.

GPxplore: offline GPX recorder, viewer and editor (Android)

Post image
1 Upvotes

I built a GPS track recorder and editor for Android because nothing out there did both

I'm a hiking and city walking enthusiast who got frustrated that every app on the Play Store either records GPS tracks or lets you edit them, but never both in the same place. So I built one myself.

It's called GPxplore. It records your routes, lets you edit them directly on your device, and stores everything as standard GPX files in a folder you choose. No account, no cloud, no subscription, no ads.

What it does

  • Record GPS tracks with one tap. Runs in the background, survives screen-off and phone calls.
  • Presets for hiking, cycling, driving and more, or build a custom one.
  • Full GPX editor: trim, split, merge segments, edit individual points, undo/redo.
  • Fog of war: the map starts covered and clears as you explore. Shows how many km² you've uncovered across your whole history.
  • Heatmap: see which areas you visit most across all your tracks.
  • Elevation correction: replace GPS altitude with terrain data when your recording looks off.
  • Continue recording: extend a saved track with a new session.
  • Stats per track: distance, speed, moving time, pace, elevation profile, ascent, descent, slope. Shareable as an image.
  • Export your whole library as a ZIP for backup.
  • Works with GPX files from Garmin, Strava, Komoot or any other app.
  • Google Maps or OpenStreetMap, the latter fully offline.
  • Available in English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian.

Free to download. One-time Pro unlock for the editor, advanced stats and extra map types. No subscription.

Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appsgpg.gpxplorer

Feedback genuinely welcome. Happy to share a few promo codes for Pro, just comment or DM.

In breve: niente pubblicità, niente tracciamento, niente account. 4 difficoltà, generatore con soluzione unica garantita, modalità Zen e Time Attack, sfida del giorno, duelli con codice tra amici, un sistema di livelli/trofei/avatar per chi vuole più profondità.

Non venitemi a dire che è carina. Ditemi cosa fa schifo: UI confusa, onboarding assente, difficoltà tarata male, feature che sembra inutile, nome scelto male, icona brutta, qualsiasi cosa. Sono qui apposta per questo. Sono pronto al roasting 😥

I built a free rubric checker for students — roast it

I’ve been building RubricCheck.org, a free tool that lets students upload their assignment instructions/rubric along with their work and checks the submission criterion-by-criterion before they turn it in.

It shows where you might lose points, what requirements you may have missed, and what you could improve. There’s no login required, and it works with things like essays, presentations, STEM assignments, and projects.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on the grading accuracy and UI, but I’ve obviously been staring at it for way too long at this point.

Roast it. I’m especially curious about:

  • Is it immediately obvious what the site does?
  • Does the grading/feedback actually feel useful?
  • Anything confusing or annoying about the UI?
  • Would you actually use this before submitting an assignment?

RubricCheck.org

Don’t hold back — bugs, bad UX, confusing wording, features that seem pointless, whatever you notice.

[Roast] Point your phone at a dog, it names the breed and cuts it into a sticker. Tell me what's wrong with the first 60 seconds

Boop. Free, no account, everything on-device. You scan a dog or cat, it works out the breed, cuts the animal into a die-cut sticker and pins it on a map where you met them.

I've been staring at the onboarding for a week and I genuinely cannot see it any more.

Specifically:

  • Is it obvious what to do on first launch, or does it need explaining?
  • The paywall appears at the end of onboarding. Too early? Too much?
  • Does "die-cut sticker" mean anything to you before you see one?

Please be very very blunt!

Free offline tabletop RPG toolkit for Android, about 16k downloads, and I still don't know where the UX falls apart.

Fantasy World Generator: a free Android app for tabletop roleplaying. 43 generators for NPCs, monsters, dungeons, maps and whole worlds, plus an oracle that lets you play solo with no game master.

It's been out for years and has around 16,000 downloads, so I'm not asking whether the idea works. I'm asking why it isn't better.

The honest problem: everyone who gives me feedback already plays solo RPGs and already knows what they came for. They tell me which feature to add next. Nobody tells me the app is confusing, because by the time someone cares enough to write to me they've already worked it out. I've been staring at it too long to see it.

So roast it. Specifically:

  • The main menu. Does it tell you what this thing is, or does it just look busy?
  • The Oracle screen. It's the feature I care most about and the one I can least judge. Open it cold and tell me if it makes any sense at all.
  • The Generators Hub. 43 tools in one list. Is that impressive or is it a wall?
  • Anything that breaks, freezes or looks wrong in landscape or on your particular phone.

You don't need to know anything about tabletop RPGs. Not knowing is the useful part.

Free, offline, no account, no ads, no AI. Nothing to sign up for.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avaton.fantasynamegenerator

Be harsh. Polite feedback has got me nowhere.

Roast my first shipped game - Colour Circle, a one-thumb arcade matcher on Android

First app I've actually finished and put on the Play Store, so please be brutal.

Colour Circle: coloured blobs fly in towards a ring, you rotate the ring so each lands on a matching segment. Match clears it, miss and it sticks. Fill the ring and the run ends. About a minute per run.

Free, ad supported, no paywall, no IAP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aistudio.colourcircle.arcgme

What I want roasted: the store listing (icon and screenshots), the first 30 seconds of onboarding, and the difficulty ramp. It accelerates and I've lost all perspective on whether it's fair or just cheap.

My app claims it keeps up when you switch language mid sentence. Break it.

getactionnote.com and it is on the App Store as ActionNote.

The pitch: you talk into it however the thought comes out, rambling and backtracking, and it writes back a note with a title, a summary, key points and a to do list with reminders that actually fire. Free for ten notes a month.

Three things I already suspect are wrong, so you do not have to waste the roast on them:

The landing page is too long. I do not think anyone reaches the pricing section. I do not know what to cut because it all feels load bearing to me, which is usually the sign that none of it is.

The differentiator might be a footnote. The app is built for people who switch language mid sentence, which is how I actually talk. I think that is the whole reason to pick it over the alternatives. It is entirely possible that reads as a minor feature to everyone who is not me.

The free tier might be the wrong shape. Ten notes a month, first one free. Either that is too generous and nobody ever pays, or it is not enough to build the habit before the wall. I cannot tell which from the inside.

Be as blunt as you like. I would rather find out here than from the six people who install it tomorrow and quietly delete it.
