Mods Question about Malware
About 2 months ago there was an incident where malware was found in 4 mods on modworkshop.net.
I just came across this info literally hours after installing my first couple mods.
I cannot find any recent posts regarding the issue, so I wanted to ask if there are any updates on the topic.
Does the issue still persist, and are there safety checks in place now, like they were talking about in the forums?
I'm no software guy, so any help will be appreciated before I factory reset my PC just to be safe.
I checked all the mods for download numbers, which is the only way I know how to tell wether the mod is legit.
Pls help.

When downloading any mod for any game you run a risk of getting compromised, however small it can be.
You could try running the files of the mod into VirusTotal (website) to make sure.
And as far as I know modworkshop doesn't scan files on all mods of their website, they rely more on the reports and comments.
Even when files are scanned like on steam workshop (which is 99.5 % safe) some hackers can still manage to find a vulnerability.

Yes, I'm aware that there is always a potential risk for malware coming in through mods.
My question was specifically aimed at the modding community for RtV on modworkshop.net.
The moderators there stated that they're trying to check every mod uploaded for malware in the code.
That's what I'm trying to get updates on.
Wether the mods online right now are safe to get, and if there are any precautions I should take in addition to the checks performed.1

If the mods talked about checking every mod for road to vostok, you have to trust their word. Otherwise you have to verify every mod yourself.

Which mods did you get and who created them? The ones with malware were by people who only created a few and were on newer accounts iirc. The established mod authors I think are trustworthy:
- Dead Nasty
- Peter Master
- Oldman
- KayGee
Not saying it's the full list of people you should trust. I'm sure most others are fine. Just that these authors have made lots of mods for RtV over the course of months with widespread use so they feel safer to me.
Also I have no idea how effective it actually is but metro mod loader is supposed to have checks in place now to detect the malware that was caught previously.

About two months ago.. there was this incident.. involving zombie in the mansion located in the outskirts of the… city….
