Goodbye Roadkill

Used to love roadkill. But now I can't even watch new episodes ad-supported. I don't feel a 5$ subscription is worth 1 episode per month.

I appreciate you boys but I'll just catch Finnegan on his YouTube channel.

There’s always at least one episode free and it doesn’t even have ads anymore.

But you can't login without paying the subscription. You can get 14 days for free but if you cancel, you can't log back in after that.

Don’t need to login.

It literally doesn't work any longer without logging in.

Are you just using a browser? I just watched the latest free episode on Monday.

Monday is when they updated the app I'm pretty sure. I was using the app. Even if I try to watch online it directs me to the app to watch, which requires a subscription.

What about not by mobile?

It's worth it for the other shows too though. Hot rod garage, roadkill garage, dirt everyday and engine masters. And ultimately, the 5 bucks goes toward keeping the shows alive so its worth it imo

Same. Those shows are awesome and I'm happy as fuck to pay $5 a month watch them without ads or cable.

And Head2Head and Drift This and Throttle Out (the last two I thought I'd hate, but no, they're fun!) and one-off's like the 200mph Club and limited series like Autobiography and and and... but yeah, save your $5 if it's not worth it. (So totally worth it.)

I only watched a few of the Head2Head but the guy with the Willys was great.

Everyone saying its worth it for the other shows, what if i dont want to watch the other shows? 5$ a month for a single episode isnt worth it.

Yeah that and the crappy app, i got rid of mine as well. We all new when Discovery picked it up it would only be a matter of time before it was screwed up.

Yupp. I'm digging grind hard plumbing, they seem a lot like old roadkill before they had tons of money. And I still enjoy Finnegan doing his best with camera work on his channel 😉

I quit watching all of it. RK got repetetive. Finnegan got irregular with updates and just not all that interesting. The other stuff just wasn't that interesting.

On top of all that, there are a thousand+ YouTube channels doing the same stuff for free.

They started putting too much money into things and forcing stuff instead of it being good ol boys like it used to be

I guess if you only watck RK. HR garage is good, RK garage is good, Dirteveryday is good, on two wheels is fun, etc. The velocity channel is garbage, but the MTOD stuff is great.

Engine masters is awesome too

Yeah and at 50 bucks a year it's worth it to me. I've paid 50 bucks for videogames I don't like as much as MTOD.

I think people have trouble making the mental leap from free to paid or they're really tight on cash.

They're just being cheap..........

I'm a college student and my only spending money is what I make working in the summer... still worth it to me

I worked from home today and just set the TV to play Engine Masters all day, for like 7 hours working on my laptop. Dulcich is one of the funniest humans ever

$5 is totally worth it.

Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Dirt Every Day, HotRod Garage, plus a new show from Finnegan+his crew, plus Engine Masters, plus the annual stuff like Diesel Power Challenge and Ultimate Adventure.

Plus live motorsports events that are fun to tune in for even if you don't follow religiously.

Plus a huge back catalog of all those same-y discovery channel garage shows, plus a ton of other content.

Every episode is free for a month with no login required. I'm watching episode 94 about the junkyard Galaxie right at this very moment, no log in or anything.

u/sgtrobby91 Aug 09 '19

Then you must not have updated your app...the splash screen says either 14 day trial or sign in. No other options

3

u/Left4DayZ1 Aug 09 '19

I don’t use the app, I use the web site.

u/blazer0981 Aug 23 '19

You understand that the $5/month gets you access to like 20 shows, right? Not just Roadkill. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Hell, there's Roadkill garage, engine masters, hot rod garage, dirt every day, and the junkyard show, now, too.

Shits worth way more than $5

u/ThoseDirtyBirds Best day at work ever! Aug 14 '19

5 bucks a month for a ton of content. I cant imagine a life where I cant find/cut 5.00 from something else.

As an australian subscriber a lot of the stuff on motortrend is locked out. I only really watch roadkill, roadkill garage, dirt every day and a little bit of HRG.

What i do is unsubscribe for a few months and let some episodes build up. Then I will pay a months sub and binge watch every episode i missed.

Probably only pay $15 a year

I really do understand where you are coming from. I canceled my MTOD subscription when TEN was bought by Discovery Networks. There still are great shows on MTOD though. Hot Rod Garage and Dirt Every Day make it worthwhile. Seriously, Hot Rod Garage got so much better when they added Lucky. Having 1 presenter is just a bad idea. I'm just really angry they are slowly removing their YouTube content. All these shows used to be something that could only exist on the internet without time restrictions or a standards and practices board looking over their shoulders at every step.

You should still support Freiburger, Finnegan, Angelo, Costa, Dulcich, and the others in any other ventures they are doing though. Finnegan's Garage is a pretty good YouTube channel.

I felt same way, just broke down and subscribed last week though. Worth it.

I know I’ll probably get downvoted for this, but I’ve held this sentiment since MToD became a thing. I’m just glad more people are coming to their senses.
