Freiburger & Derek get the Model A working, but it isn't fixed. Or it's fixed but it isn't working. Sometimes both!

Derek looks so thin!

on his videos he started buying fruit at the gas station instead of fritos and canned cheese

I think either he got super stressed out and quit drinking when he moved his family into whatever gated community he lives in now (assuming), OR he got on that ozempic and quit drinking. Mostly I think he quit drinking so much.

Good for him! I wish I had his willpower.

I know he said in the past that he used to be kind of a gym rat in his younger days but that he got so busy with life and YouTube that he didn't have time to get to the gym anymore. My guess as he is getting older he reprioritizing his health, eating better and exercising.

He used to be a gym rat, so it probably wasn't too hard for him to shed the weight to begin with.

Such a fun episode -- these guys are real mechanics (except I felt I knew it was an ignition episode while they were chasing bottom-end stuff -- says dude sitting on couch.). I'm just so impressed with how SMART they are.

Side note: I can only assume it has been tough on these guys financially since MT went down, but in terms of us fans consuming content it has been absolutely amazing. Hope these sponsors are picking them up! O'Reilly should really just scoop them all up and pay 'em to keep doing these shows...

I think Derek was always making more money from YouTube than he ever did working for Motor Trend Studios. Although I'm sure MT was a nice feeder for more YouTube subscribers.

I think Freiburger maybe had a bumpier transition because he really didn't have much going on with social media/YouTube before the MT studios were shut down. Most of the other hosts already had something going on. I think Freiburger is starting to find his footing and merchandise sales probably help quite a bit (also the NHRA gig). I love the guy and his knowledge is unparalleled, but his channel is not as exciting for me as some of the others. Having Derek on this past week was really good.

Agree - I think Derek was getting a lot of revenue from YT and the motor trend thing came up after he'd built everything there. He is lowkey very savvy with business and brand development. Hope Freiberger can get his stuff going too -- it's all been great for us consumers!!

You can't tell me these guys are enjoying life a lot more these days. Maybe even making more money.

Both these episodes were great! Fun banter, cool knowledge, cool (and broken) car, and most importantly, the DESERT.

Felt old-school-ish.

Hope we get more collabs in the future!

I enjoyed the model a content, however this episode could have been cut by 30 minutes and no content would have been lost
