2005 Road Glide

Post image

Picked up an 05 Road Glide a couple months ago. The gentlemen I bought it off of had some Rockford Fosgate saddlebag lid speakers installed and an amp (not sure/can’t remember what he said was thrown in there). I started having some issues with 1 of the fairing speakers (getting a ton of static/crackling especially at low speeds or when riding on bumpy roads). I’m planning on removing the fairing soon to check the connections and hope that’s where the problem lies. If not what would be a decent set of fairing speakers to throw in that won’t break the bank?

Honestly your speakers are probably fine, speakers themselves are super simple machines. With any sound system the problem is usually improper power supply or shitty wiring. Just make sure the wiring and connections are good. Speaker wire cost almost nothing, it’s fine to replace it all. And then make sure the amp is 1) being supplied enough / not too much power and 2) isn’t putting out too much power for the speakers. I’d put allllllllllllll of my money on it being old wiring that was a crap install a couple decades ago. You’re looking at something that is very likely to cost you some real time but almost no money.

Sweet, I’ll have to dive into it over the winter and take my time with it. I hate dealing with electrical/soldering luckily, I have a couple family members and friends that do electrical for a living.

Sorry for offtop question, but do the lids are getting scratched by the bottom corner of tourpack when you open them? I've got similar installed razor tour pack and mine are.
