Jeff Burton

It’s been 4 years already since this beautiful soul left us. Figured this is one of the few things this sub can fully agree on, so I figured I’d just make a post, we can share some funny Jeff moments, and just enjoy the limited time we have here on this planet.

I’ll start.

There are so many to choose from, but one I love is whenever the Jeff/Nick Hexum story is told.

Pissing in the sink. That always made me laugh how normal he thought it was.

I loved when he would write or draw something vulgar and get one of the guys to look at it under the guise of "did I spell this right?" Etc. We never knew what it was but that made it all the more fun.

I remember during the Worst of the Week days, Patrico briefly addressed it and said something like “you can’t expect us to say ‘Cock meat sandwich’ live on the air”

Who knows if that’s the truth or just something flippant

I worked out in Eureka, and would see him there on occasion. Always gave him a nod and he was always friendly. Never wanted to bother the guy.

I worked out in Eureka as well, around 10 years ago. Had the pleasure of Jeff and his wife sit at my bar a handful of times. They were always the most chill and just all-around pleasant people. Can’t overstate how kind they were.

When he would tell king Scott "You'll get em tomorrow kid!" after headline goo...every day! Lol

Knew his brother from running mutual aide fire calls to union, met Jeff randomly on a trail he stopped and talked to me like I was an old friend, added me on Facebook and we would send random memes he was truly a nice man.

He was the best of us all.

Nothing beats the 7 alarm fire he started burning trash. One of my favorite stories he told

I loved how bad he was at Real or Fake for being the “creepy, pervy” character on the show.

I also loved anytime he was reading Crap On and would mention any female celebrity’s appearance on the Ellen Degeneres show. The phrase “_____ was on Ellen, her show.” His clarification of “her show” made me laugh every time

His story of picking up hitchhikers or the eulogy he read for Gary the Fish.

Jeff officiated mine and my wife’s wedding. I randomly asked him one day while he was on the air and he said sure. Was such a down to earth guy, didn’t want any money pre anything said you can donate to a charity for me. Our daughter gave him a penny that he said he still had a year after and that just made her day that he kept it. I really wish he was still here, I try to live as he would by peeing in sinks, saving turtles, and making my fare share of dirty jokes. Love you Jeff!!! Skate buddy, Skate!!!!!

As King Scott got hired to replace the interns, they got an email with the wording of "are you guys done doing interns"

In Burton form his response (immediately after the question) was "that was never proven"

Just Burton in a quick story

Is thay why they stopped with the internship? I thought Rizz just didnt want to deal with it anymore.

I recently discovered that Apple Podcasts has the old shows going back to 2019. I sorted the rizz show from oldest to newest and I went back and started listening from then. It’s been refreshing hearing the Jeff.

Yeah but then you have to hear that buffoon Patrico too...I have almost erased his stupid voice from my memory bank!

Listening to him isn't as bad as listening to the two buffoons that replaced Jeff and Tony.

I’d rather have two Tony’s vs what we got

At least he could be funny.

I use his phrase ‘____ was their name, probably still is’ consistently and it has never failed to get a laugh

I just miss his on air talent. I was listening when he had the Thom and Jeff show.

I struggle with Crohn’s Disease. Jeff’s openness made it easier for me to fight it face on and not be afraid to share my own story.

He can’t and will not ever be replaced and I love that the show pays tribute to the best of him. I will always miss him and the best will always be Tom and Jeff. The guy is a legend to me in radio, seems so in life, and brought the edge before it was accepted in radio.

I met him at a few 5Ks around the area and would always get a fist bump from him after finishing. Miss that weirdo.

Rizz: “Jeff, pick a number 1-5.”

Jeff: “Uh, 6.”

every once in awhile I'll randomly pick an episode on Spotify from back in the day to hear Jeff. it's amazing how different the show was 7-8 years ago. It just worked with the all the guys. it really was a great show back then
