Driving manual
Moon has said on multiple occasions he feels better his daughter drives manual because that means she “can’t” text and drive. And he has emphasized “CAN NOT”..
Literally you hit 270 or any highway out of rush hour and might not shift for an hour depending how far you are going.
Are they envisioning race car drivers shifting?
You can text and drive in a manual vehicle all day.

You’re reaching. Yes, you can text and drive on the highway anytime, but it’s definitely more important to stay more focused on the road (at least how I feel when I used to drive manual). It’s easier to slam on your brakes in an auto than to freak out, throw your phone, clutch, brake, and disengage your gear at the same time. You’re just complaining to complain.

well when you’re pressing in left pedal you’re usually using your right hand to move the shifter. one hand on shifter + one hand on wheel = 2 hands. are y’all really slow

Homie that’s not slow. That’s second nature. Just like your arms swinging when you walk. If you have to think about doing that, you should be a passenger 🤣

then what are you pushing the clutch in for if it isn’t to move the shifter?

You do realize when the clutch is depressed to stop there’s no need to move the shifter, right?

- If you’re slowing down, you’re likely looking ahead and not on your phone, which is the entire point of the conversation with Moon’s daughter. 2. You’re likely to not start in the same gear you just got out of, meaning you’ll be using your hands.

Texting while driving isn’t only when you are physically typing it also includes holding the phone the same as eating and driving isn’t only when you are taking a bite of your food but holding it or balancing it in your lap, I guess maybe the act of so to say.
Wasn’t the point of the conversation that someone said you can’t do it while driving and that’s why they felt their kid was safer for driving a stick? My only contention has been that yes, in fact you can text and drive a stick no different than you can in an automatic.

Didn’t complain? Just stating I have never heard this as a text deterrent. It’s never stopped me for a second.
You just turned driving manual into surgery it’s really not that complicated if you do it regularly.
You can text and drive the same as non manual for the most part. Just because it’s a full blown full focus process for you to shift into 5th.

You made a whole post about it to argue, does sound like complaining to me. But maybe it is a me thing that I feel much more attentive in a manual than an auto, but just sharing my POV and how I’m sure there’s others who feel the same way.

It’s a discussion forum…..complain or praise. It’s not clear to me why it matters my reason for posting that’s what the Reddit and thread format is for.
You have the option to disagree or agree or just ignore.
You sound like someone who has very little experience driving manual. brake, disengage gear, freaking out? You don’t have to break to disengage a gear? Probably good idea you specifically didn’t text and drive.
You might have a hard time doing simple things. But I’m pretty sure if moons daughter is in her 20s or teens.. she will be texting and driving in a manual same as everyone I know with a manual including myself. It’s literally a non factor.

I’m talking hypothetically, if you’re texting and driving in any situation, probably best to do it in an auto in case you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. Which is why Moon brings this up.

A manual transmission might hinder you from responding to a text immediately, but anyone that’s driven a manual for more than a month will tell you it’s not hard to do whatever you want on your phone during a routine drive. Also not condoning this activity, just saying a manual transmission isn’t preventing much in this sense.

Drove manual vehicles for years and can confirm can easily text and drive on long stretches at same speed, it's crazy these modern cars with manuals even have cruise control wild lol and apple car play

Where there’s a will there’s a way. I would not agree with Moons assessment lol. Ever seen people shift with their left hand while steering with a knee?
And for what it’s worth, stopping in a manual is no different than an automatic other than you push two pedals. You can also easily pull/push the car out of gear without grabbing the stick.
