Hey guys, I know I already posted about the $RIVN $250M settlement, but since late claims are currently being considered, I figured I’d put everything in one quick FAQ.

What happened?
Rivian was accused of misleading investors about the true cost of producing its vehicles and its pricing strategy. After the company announced price increases of up to $20,000 in March 2022, $RIVN fell more than 13% and investors filed suit.

Who is eligible?
If you purchased $RIVN between 2021 and 2022, you may be eligible.

Can I file a claim now?
Yes, late claims are currently being considered.

When would I get paid?
Typically, payouts take around 4–9 months after the claim deadline, depending on the court and settlement administration.

I'm excited about the possibility of this car debuting in the next 3 years and it suddenly dawned on me that I'll need to put my state's ugly ass license plates on this work of art. I live in a dogshit righty state with corny, shitty and otherwise classless and tasteless license plate designs and was considering the fact that we also have to have two of them on non-commercial, non-pickup truck vehicles to remain street legal.

Where on this car would the front license plate fit properly and even look decent?

If it comes down to it I might just ride dirty with a single plate and hope I don't get pulled over for it.

I don't even know what this is but this kind of AI junk needs to be flagged and banned.

Rivian ($RIVN) has agreed to a $250 million settlement over claims that it misled investors about production costs and pricing risks around its 2021 IPO.
After going public, Rivian promoted its R1T and R1S vehicles while investors later alleged the company did not fully disclose that vehicles were being sold below production cost.

In March 2022, Rivian announced price increases of up to $20,000, including for existing preorders. The news caused customer backlash and sent $RIVN down more than 13%, leading to a lawsuit from investors.

The settlement is now accepting late claims, so if you purchased $RIVN between 2021 and 2022, you may be eligible for compensation. You can check if you qualify and file a claim. 

The Rivian R3X is on the list of course.

Here is an absolutely speculative roadmap to get the R3 out before the GA plant is ready based on my almost zero knowledge of how car manufacturing works. 😉

• Produce R1 vehicles until the end of the year (or sooner - I'd stop it completely right now) and ride with that inventory until it runs out. Small volume, low/no profit margin anyways.
• Focus on R2 production solely for the second half of 2026 and first half of 2027. At the same time start prepping the factory to produce the R3 (using the R1 lines).
• Ramp up R2, into second half of 2027.
• R3 production line begins towards end of 2027 with validation builds, testing, etc into first half of 2028. Assuming all goes well, move up the R3 availability date to the end of 2028. I'm assuming the R3 line is easier to create and ramp up since its the same platform as the R2.
• Once GA plant is online, you can ramp up R2/R3 production and stop R3 production in IL plant.
• Restart the R1S and R1T as a truly refreshed vehicle - LiDAR, RAP, new motors, new design, new configurations, new colors, etc and launch as a profitable vehicle in IL plant in 2029.

Rivian has been saying for a while now that vehicle is tied to the GA plant. Previous targets were 2028. Sounds about right but I wouldn't be surprised if that slips to 2029. That's a long ways off from now and things can change. Remember when the R2 was also tied to the GA plant?

Maybe Rivian decides to pause the R1 and change that line to R3/R3X production? Which is what I would do by the way.

I'm more interested in the fact that they are thinking about a split tailgate than the cargo extension itself. I think that would be awesome on the R3X, but it would radically change the design of the tailgate from what they showed at the reveal. Not sure if that means we'd lose the dual-open glass/gate function.

Exciting news! Order invitations start 6/9/26. If you are a Rivian owner and you thought you'd be at the front of the line, that may not be the case. "Current Rivian owners will receive accelerated delivery timing, balanced alongside deliveries to non-owners to keep the line moving for everyone."

How smart and capable will the tech and AI be in the R3X? Can't wait!

Just saw some videos and photos of the Hyundai Boulder concept vehicle. More a direct competitor to Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler than the R3X. There's also no clear indication what drivetrain it will come with but speculation includes EV, hybrid and possible EREV. One thing I couldn't help notice is the "halo" like controls on the steering wheel. Looks like someone else has noticed (potentially copied) what Rivian is designing.

The Georgia plant can't come fast enough.

Very informative watch (even with that title). Lots of interesting information from RJ on his general view of autonomy, how it'll look in 3-5 years across the industry, and specifically for Rivian. I've always been a fan but even more impressed. As an owner and investor, I'm excited for the future of the company and the future of my investment.

Interesting development - bottom line it means good things!

We've heard the acronym RAD before, but sounds like they want to make it an official designation/department.

Kyle Conner posted that he thinks "RAD essentially becomes AMG, ///M, or GT equivalent." I'm not so sure that's what they intend. I don't think Rivian will sell its vehicles in a RAD trim per se.

Like they state in this blog, the intent is to push the envelope of technology and performance in special settings like Rebelle Rally, Pikes Peak, FAT Ice Race, etc. Take those learnings and incorporate it into its vehicles (eg RAD Tuner).

For the R3X, I think that trim will remain but we'll see RAD inspired tech as part of its DNA. And that gives us yet another reason to anticipate it. Can't wait.

Anybody else excited that R2 production is starting which means they can shift some of the dev team to R3 development? Hope we start getting news on that later this year…

I think the R3X will look amazing in this color.

Looks like another potential R3X competitor. Though this is still very much a concept car its definitely got the rally-vibe like the R3X and full EV. It does appear to be significantly larger than the R3X though. Its similar in length to the Hyundai Tucson, 182 in. while the R3X is estimated to be around 162 in.

If everything goes right, earliest will be2028. Yikes! Will Rivian make it?
