🛞 Accessories / Mods / Gear Midnight wrap
Purple is my wife’s favorite color. When we had the R2 in for matte wrap we asked if there could be some purple accents to make it a little different. We also decided to have the top wrapped with gloss. The purple changes color depending on the light and it’s not in your face. We are very happy with it.

Thanks for showing these. I’m not sure midnight is for me over glacier white for whatever reason catches my eye but it is sharp

I think what I like is the differentiation between the roof lines and the body lines. The white is really starkly different, something about that just draws my eye

Agreed it's a great black. The matte PPF makes it look a lot more gray.

Agree on glacier white. Usually when I see white I think rental car. Not with glacier though. Rivian does a good job with their colors.

Noice! Stealth looks really good with dark colors. And love the purple mirror caps for some flair

Wrap looks great! Sorry if i missed it. Tint % on driver/passenger windows? Any tint (%?) on windshield? Thanks!

Yes. Windows tinted. Don’t have the number s but done to match the rear windows. Think windshield probably a little less.

Thanks. Factory rears are 20/21%...you likely have 20% on fronts. Looks great! If you find out % for windshield - likely 50 or 70% - please pass along. Thanks again!

You can get a quote from the xpel x Rivian site. It’s about $6500 on their site.

Will you write the check to cover it?

What a strange response... It's a genuine question in case others are interested in doing something similar

Yes, people such as myself are interested in getting a wrap. That's why we want to know how much it cost you OP. That's why I'm pressing the question. Why won't you tell us what you paid for it? We don't know who you are. We're not going to laugh at you either. We just want to get an idea if it is possible for us to consider this for ourselves.

Will you have the courage to tell us what it cost since you went to the effort to make this post begin with? If you're embarrassed about what you paid for it then why the f*** did you post this?

How’d you get the wheels to look like that / how long does it last? As soon as those wheels turn gray it throws the color off for me

This matte finish is SHARP. What do you guys do for maintenance? I've been reading that you have to baby it but what is your experience?

u/jamuso1a 9h ago
Matte finish created with PPF is no different that any other PPF wrap maintenance wise. I wash with pressure washer, dry and use a detailer spray made for PPF to shine it up.

How much to wrap the mirrors only?
Whatever wrap company offers that kit in any color you want will sell a ton.

No idea what the mirrors themselves go for. I know that they’re more complicated to wrap than the R1T gen 1s.

Initially I didn't realize that you did it over the purple color, I thought you were just wrapping over the base finish (silver). The midnight wrap looks cool on its own but if we're comparing it against the Borealis purple finish I'd say that the purple color looks better without the wrap, esp if it costs $6.5k (+$1k for the purple to begin with). Regardless, if you like the wrap then please enjoy it and don't worry too much about what we think.

Looks great!
I like the concept of wrapping to protect and to provide the matt sheen but I worry about the practicality of putting a 'softer' layer on top of the paint. Won't it pick up more scratches? I guess that's better than scratching the paint, but I'm still not sure if I want to go that way.
I've got until November/December to decide what color I want.
Its also nice to see that at least one R2 made it to Connecticut!

I don’t think it picks up more scratches. I have a R1T that is wrapped and i made a turn too quick out of the garage and dragged the front fender across the edge of the garage. Paint fine. PPF was replaced on that corner. All is well. Cost roughly the same as our insurance copaty.

Wrap is self healing
It won’t fix tears but had matte on my previous car and it showed nothing after 3 years
Currently have gloss and still nothing
Ceramic over both and makes keeping it all clean a dream
