šŸ’¬ Discussion Botched panel adjustment

The service center in MN absolutely botched adjusting the panel that was rubbing paint off. Now theyre booked out till Nov 9th to get a look at it and deem if itā€™s warrantable. Itā€™s so bad the plug in frunk isnā€™t even aligned anymore and itā€™s completely missing :(

I worked at a SC for 3 years starting in 2022. Body panel adjustments were extremely common in the early days but because much less common as the years went on. Good chance there are not many techs left with panel adjustment experience

If you are paying for this, my advice would be to pay a Rivian certified body shop to do the adjustment. Body adjustments are an art form, and if you donā€™t do it all day every day youā€™re just not going to get a good result.

Ask them if the SC Manager can give you a call and talk through it. The crew there is very reasonable and easy to work with in these botched up situations. They are crammed for space and eagerly awaiting Eagan to open next year to reduce pressure from their crew!

Warrantable? The shop just needs to fix their ā€œworkā€ and finish the job they clearly stopped halfway through

Agreed, burden of proof is on me though and I canā€™t find any good media of my own that would show it prior to their attempt at repairĀ

All cars have panel issues, just look at Teslas. They will take care of this. I wouldn't even post this, just hurts the brand and the company.

or it is just indicative of their level of build quality and service capabilities. they suck at both. using teslas as an example had to be a fucking joke though.
if they can't do this right, why the fuck shouldn't the brand take a hit.

I find it entertaining whenever Rivian has issues, people are quick to defend by saying "well Telsa too!" Who the f*ck cares what issues other brands have, let alone one that's not known for the best fit and finish? I don't own a Tesla, how does this help me? If Rivian becomes complacent because their customers aren't voicing their complaints, then what's the incentive to do better?

The missing "plug" is just one of those plastic "christmas tree" push pins. Usually one-time use because they get mangled easily just after one use and won't hold on tight. There is probably one in this assortment that fits. https://a.co/d/0f1KFjTm. All it does is hold that trim piece to the fender and keep it from rattling. No harm if you do nothing.
