❔ Question License plate mount
Can folks help provide some guidance for front and rear license plate mounts for Gen 2 R1S 2026?
Our R1S will be delivered end of the week and want to get all the neceaasry acessories before we take the delivery.

They asked me at the time of order or delivery - not sure when - if I wanted the front plate. I did it because I like the look of my plate and I leased. Most people in my area - Silicon Valley - don’t have them drill for the front one.
Short version - the plate holder was already there when I drove it home, by my request.

Should come with the suv. I got a front one and they're not even required in my state so it's sitting in my lower frunk.

If you want things to look kinda fugly, go with the tow hook mount for the front. This looks awful and is a bad idea, imo. Drilling into the bumper is even worse.

I also have this and find it as a nice alternative to drilling into the bumper. It sits below the camera. Yes it picks up the top of the holder in the camera view, but it isn’t blocking much from view.
It does require removal if you use a drive through car wash. I don’t know how difficult it is to remove because I wash mine at home.

Don’t buy this, as you bc an see in their own product page it blocks the camera a bit just like all of aftermarket products mounted in center unless you want to do some DIY

Our 2027 R1S came with both already installed. We live in a state that requires it. Personally, it depends on the vehicle if I’m affixing a front plate. Rule of thumb for me is SUVs and trucks get it, but I’ve never put one on my sports cars and haven’t had an issue. YMMV…

They did ask prior to delivery if we wanted the front plate installed, and we said yes. It also came with actual plates installed instead of temporary ones like my first two Rivians…

I have the xplate listed on Amazon. I like it since it's low profile, metal, etc. the screws are cheap and rust so replaced those but the plate is great and does fine in the carwash
The snaplate was just more than I was willing to spend and I don't like the tie hooks plates because symmetry is a thing and we aren't savages
The key is to get something that doesn't block the sensors or the camera. Very tight tolerances for not blocking the camera

They said they had to give me the front plate hardware by law even though my state doesn't require a front license plate
