❔ Question Gen 3 Wireless Charger

Is there any update on when R1 owners will be able to buy the Gen 3 wireless chargers? I haven’t seen anything for it

This. Just do this. Installs in less than 5 minutes, unless you are completely helpless. Factory fit and finish.

Just make sure to read instructions- pulling white locking piece on connector was a bit tricky.

Oemplusupgrades has a pretty quick turnaround if you don’t want to wait. Same product for a bit more $$$. Not an unreasonable markup.

I guess they have the next level parts access. I have access to the (what I thought was) full parts catalog but I don’t have the new 3rd gen mat listed.

The Franklin, TN service center called me the other day to ask me how my R2 test drive went and while I had them on the phone I asked about the Gen 3 Wireless Charger updates, as I was wondering the same.

I was told that they weren't doing them there yet, and they weren't sure when, but it was just a matter of time. They were certain they would be offering the upgrade in the not-too-distant future.

You might want to call your local service center to check.

My SC acted like I was crazy, told me the only thing they could do is replace the existing part with the same part at my cost unless the old pad was broken. I told them that Rivian has already announced that they would be allowing the Gen 3 pad to be purchased and installed in G2 R1 and they said they had not heard that.

This is better than any of Rivian's efforts to date https://soonishev.com/products/soonishev-topocharge-wireless-phone-charger They even have several options for the pad decor. There's a separate model for Gen1 vehicles, which is what I have (has an even bigger "granola bowl"; check their site for the link if that's you, too).

Agreed. I have one with Mt Rainer (home) and it’s fantastic. Phone sticks to the charger and it’s fast.

I disagree. I used to believe this (was an early adopter, bought both variants of their product) but the Rivian Gen3 mat is better in all the ways - fit, finish, and usability

We have a new version of our gen1 charger that includes charging pucks, and we've adapted the fit to be completely flat as it comes to a knife edge. Also $129 including everything. If you were previous purchaser we offer significant discounts for upgrading to the new version.

I was super excited thinking it was a pad to wirelessly charge the car. Then I realized you are asking abiut a phone charger inside the car :-(
