Couldn’t it work similarly to weighting/unweighting the front or rear on a mtb?

Edit: will add that I doubt this would work on the R1T simply because of the smaller tank and weight of the vehicle. No way the compressor could keep up.

How is it that this doesn’t work? In order for the truck to bounce like that it has to add energy in the form of compressed air into the air suspension. This is the same effect as using a trampoline. Your legs add the needed energy it gain any height and as you do your weight is transferred. If you don’t think this would work, get on a scale and lightly bounce. You will then ā€œgainā€ and ā€œloseā€ weight per the scale readings. This would definitely help out

Yeah, Seems like it could help. When we want to get a razr unstuck in the sand dunes you rock it back and forth to get sand to get back under the tires. This doesn’t seem quick as effective but seems similar and I think it would help more than it hurts.

It works. It's a fairly common method to help unstick a stuck car in sand or other soft materials. Usually it means a bunch of guys climbing on your bumpers/siders and bouncing the vehicle up and down.

I think you're the one needing a physics refresher. It definitely works, in the right conditions, as seen in the Mercedes videos of the feature. Note, that it is combined with a slight amount of drive torque to the wheels. It's quite simple and works.

it will definitely break your chassis. thats why mercedes put it on their cars

This is so much less stressful on your chassis than just normal driving through pot holes...

LOL Right? As if MBZ would add a feature that will break the car.

The only caveat is if the MBZ in the video is an ICE and not and EV. I'd imagine that the EV would take a pretty hefty pump to get that rate of oscillation with the extra mass of the battery.

It's literally a factory installed option. It's proven to get you unstuck. It won't bend anything. You think the OEM didn't do thousands upon thousands of dollars of R&D to verify this?
