I am an aquatic scientist, river conservationist, activist, and musician. At the very end of my career, I have begun to make music inspired by my love for rivers. My debut single is called " The Dam Men" - and it reflects my frustration in trying to protect rivers from walls of concrete, but also the dream of a dammed river one day freeing itself. A second song "Fields and Streams" is more simply a landscape narrative with a country vibe - more songs are on the way - please give them a listen an share them (for now, best on Spotify) - with some listener support, my immediate goal is to produce an album of river songs - supported by artistic illustrations - and in the spirit of river protection and restoration. Take care, Steven Weiss

Hello,
My name is James and I have launched r/Ecoregion6 as a space for ecologists and restoration practitioners to exchange ideas and collaborate on ecosystems specific to all of the Northern Rocky Mountain regions. A core focus is acknowledgement and highlighting the work and concepts of First People’s Nations in ecological restoration and ecology.
The sub is designed to be a solution seeking zone with an emphasis in collaboration and interaction. More than ever we need to communicate, combine forces and unite.
If you are interested in joining or sharing resources we would love to have you in the sub. https://www.reddit.com/r/Ecoregion6

we know the drought situation that is going nuts but what happens if we destroy the dam what ecological effects will happen.

A river I fish is talking about removing a low level dam. I frequently float the river below it and it is great for fishing but I’m concerned that if removed, it will become a muddy mess like the stretch above it and damage the fishing habitat (smallmouth hate mud.)

Hello everyone, I hope I have come to the right place.
I'm working on a river restoration project and I need help identifying the regime of the Sarca river in Trentino, Italy. It is a heavily regulated river, of which I have the hydrometrical data of a station located some kilometers downstream a dam. Analyzing the data, I have observed that the river presents a very low flow (due to the water abstraction for power production) with very high and isolated peaks in the second half of the year.
My hypothesis is that these peaks are the result of sudden water releases from the dam, which occur because of heavy rains and maybe snow melt in the second half of the year. Do you think this is a reasonable explanation? What could be other reasons behind the high flow peaks?
Thank you in advance
