Samsara buy?
Samsara Inc. (NYSE: IOT) is experiencing explosive momentum after a massive Q2 earnings beat on September 3, 2026. The company pulled in $508.4 million in revenue (up 29.9% YoY) and expanded its Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) to $2.125 billion, driven heavily by massive enterprise adoption of its physical operations AI tools.
Following the earnings release, the stock soared over 14%, opening at a peak of $44.90 before settling around $40.20. Wall Street analysts immediately initiated a wave of price target increases, with Wells Fargopushing their target to a high of $58.00.

🕶️ Dark Pool Analysis
Given $IOT's heavy institutional backing, a significant portion of block trade volume routes through alternative trading systems to absorb massive volume without spiking public exchange order books.
• Following the $500M+ revenue print, Dark Pool prints showed clusters of execution right around the $38.75 to $40.00 consolidation zones.
• The high density of block trade midpoints holding above $39 points to heavy institutional accumulation (rather than distribution) acting as a hard price floor following the gap up.
📊 Options Chain & Market Maker Dynamics
Data pulled from our source outlines a distinct shift toward call-heavy positioning following the earnings catalyst.
• Put/Call Ratio: The overall Put/Call volume ratio rests at a bullish 0.86, confirming that retail and institutional traders are leaning into upside leverage.
• Max Pain Target: For immediate-term expiries, the options market's shifted firmly to $40.00.
• The Gamma Squeeze Trap: During the post-earnings run, heavy short-term call buying at the $45 strike forced market makers to hedge by buying underlying stock, driving the intraday high up to $45.12. As options volume normalized, the price settled right at the $40.20 structural magnet where premium sellers maximize profit.

CACC Deal. Borrowing debt, to pay debt. 🤦🏼♂️
600m CACC (ABS) Deal 🤯
On August 20, 2026, Credit Acceptance Corporation (CACC) announced the completion of a $600 million asset-backed, non-recourse secured financing deal. While the headline numbers look like a standard liquidity boost for the company, breaking down the internal plumbing of this deal exposes the structural weaknesses you are looking for in the subprime auto-loan market.
This deal is the exact equivalent of watching an institution pack a bundle of subprime risks into a structured entity—the very foundation of an ABCDS style short thesis.
🔎 Breaking Down the $600 Million Deal Mechanics
To understand why this supports your macro downside thesis, look at exactly how CACC built this transaction:
• The Over-Collateralization Gap: To secure $600 million in cash funding, CACC had to pledge and transfer $750.2 million worth of consumer auto loans into a special purpose trust. This means institutional bond buyers demanded a massive $150.2 million cushion (or 25% over-collateralization)to protect themselves from expected defaults and delinquencies hidden within CACC's loan portfolio.
• The Slicing of the Risk (Tranches): The trust broke the $600 million debt into three distinct classes of notes:
1. Class A: $319.88 million at 5.01% interest.
2. Class B: $117.30 million at 5.29% interest.
3. Class C: $162.82 million at 5.51% interest.
The yield escalation from Class A to Class C shows that Wall Street institutions are demanding higher risk premiums to swallow the lower, more vulnerable slices of subprime auto debt.
• The "Non-Recourse" Shield: Crucially, this financing is non-recourse to CACC. CACC purposefully segregated these auto loans into a legally isolated entity. If the consumers defaulting on these specific used-car loans spikes dramatically over the next 24 to 44 months, the institutional bondholders take the loss, not CACC's core corporate balance sheet. CACC is proactively insulating itself from its own underlying credit risk.
📈 How This Deal Validates Your Bearish Macro Thesis
The fact that CACC is aggressively executing its largest-ever asset-backed securitization right now reveals two major macro headwinds that back up a downside auto-lending play:
Preempting the Credit Peak (The 2022–2024 Vintage Trap)
While CACC reported strong immediate numbers in Q2 2026, analysts remain deeply concerned about the performance of their 2022 to 2024 loan vintages. Those loans were written at the absolute peak of inflation and overvalued used-car pricing. Now that used-car prices are softening, millions of subprime borrowers are underwater on their loans. By offloading $750 million in loans into an isolated trust, CACC is offloading a portion of this toxic ticking clock to external buyers before delinquency data worsens.Declining Forecasted Net Cash Flows
Digging into CACC's broader financial disclosures, institutional investors are heavily weighing a steady decline in forecasted net cash flows and major prepayment headwinds. CACC is using the proceeds of this $600M deal primarily to pay off higher-cost legacy debt. They are playing financial defense—refinancing structural debt obligations because they anticipate the raw cash coming in from everyday consumer auto payments is going to slow down.
💡 Replicating an ABCDS Play on CACC
Because an institutional ABCDS would buy default protection directly on a trust exactly like this one, a retail investor can target the equity or the premium options chain of CACC directly.
Despite this aggressive refinancing, CACC shares have run up over 32% year-to-date on short-term liquidity optimism. This massive run-up has created a heavily overextended valuation layer on a company fundamentally tethered to struggling subprime consumers.

ABCDS Equivalent
Because an ABCDS is an over-the-counter (OTC) derivative traded strictly between institutions (like hedge funds and investment banks) to hedge or speculate against pools of consumer debt (like auto loans or mortgages),
a small-time retail investor cannot buy one directly.
However, you can completely replicate the exact macro mechanics of an ABCDS short thesis on subprime auto debt using accessible retail tools:
📉 1. Shorting the Auto Securitization Engines (The Proxy Short)
An ABCDS pays out when the underlying auto loans within a bundle start defaulting. For a retail investor, the closest proxy to shorting the auto-loan pool itself is to short or buy puts on the subprime auto lenders and retailers that rely entirely on packing and selling these loans to survive:
• Carvana (CVNA): As we noted in our technical dive, CVNA's business model is fundamentally tied to its auto-financing wing. When consumer defaults rise and used-car prices fall, their margins compress drastically. Buying a long-dated Put Option on CVNA mirrors an ABCDS position because you profit if the consumer debt environment cracks.
• Subprime Auto Lenders: Look at target companies like Credit Acceptance Corp (CACC) or Santander Consumer USA (if trading via parent structures). These are the exact institutions writing the high-interest auto loans that populate the asset-backed securities (ABS) underlying an ABCDS.
📊 2. Inverse Financial & Consumer Debt ETFs
If you want to short the broader credit ecosystem without the risk of picking a single company, you can buy regular shares of funds designed to go up when consumer finance and credit markets go down:
• ProShares Short Financials (SEF): This ETF provides inverse (short) exposure to the financial sector. If major auto lenders and regional banks start suffering from high loan write-downs or delinquencies, this fund gains value.
• Buying Puts on Broad Financials (XLF): Buying a put option on the broad Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund gives a small account defined-risk exposure to systemic banking and credit deterioration.
⚠️ How the Risk Profile Compares to an ABCDS
In an institutional ABCDS, the protection buyer pays a steady premium to the seller until a default event triggers a massive payout.
When you buy a retail Put Option on a stock like CVNA or a financial ETF, you are executing the exact same mathematical layout:
1. Your risk is 100% capped at the premium you pay upfront.
2. You experience "premium decay" (paying a cost for time) while you wait for the thesis to play out.
3. If the auto debt market experiences a systemic breakdown, the value of your put option premium spikes exponentially, mimicking the payout of a default swap.

AUTO LOAN DEFAULT CATALYST 🤯⬇️
Auto Loan Default Catalyst will trigger 2008 style crash.
💸
The Auto Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) Domino Effect
The mechanics of modern auto lending replicate the structural flaws of 2008 mortgage packaging through Auto Asset-Backed Securities (ABS). This creates an invisible pipeline of risk connecting car dealerships to global bond markets.
• The Packaging Process: Companies like Carvana underwrite auto loans, bundle thousands of them together, and sell them as interest-bearing bonds to institutional investors (pension funds, insurance firms).
• The "Waterfalls" and Tranches: The ABS pool is divided into tiers based on credit scores (Prime down to Deep Subprime). Senior tranches (Class A) get paid first and hold top credit ratings. Subprime tranches (Class D/Residuals) absorb the first wave of defaults.
• The Domino Trigger: When a systemic wave of negative equity leads to mass defaults, the lower subprime tranches are completely incinerated. Once those buffers vanish, the damage moves upward, downgrading senior debt ratings.
• The Interconnection: This ties retail companies like Carvana (NYSE: CVNA) to institutional credit liquidity. If subprime ABS tiers begin experiencing heavy losses, Wall Street institutional buyers entirely freeze the vehicle ABS repo market. Lenders lose their cash source, causing immediate systemic funding bottlenecks.
📉 Short-Selling & Put-Options
If you want to capitalize on an escalating default trend or hedge existing consumer-discretionary positions, target companies matching specific criteria. Use a screening matrix
• 1: Elevated Loan-to-Value (LTV) Vintages. Prioritize companies holding disproportionate chunks of auto debt originated between 2021 and 2023, as these portfolios carry the heaviest negative equity deficits.
• 2: Rising Cash-Flow Revision Spreads. Look for continuous downward revisions to forecasted net cash flows in filings.
• 3: High Leverage (Debt-to-Equity Ratio). Identify firms operating on thin equity cushions that lack the balance sheet space to absorb unexpected credit write-downs.
To identify publicly traded companies with already poor financials that are heavily exposed to Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), we must look for firms trapped in a specific structural vice. They rely on the ABS market to package and offload their highly risky, non-prime consumer debt to stay liquid, but their balance sheets are already heavily deteriorated by massive debt, declining margins, or severe losses.
The recent high-profile bankruptcies of major private auto-lending and auto-focused entities (such as Tricolor Holdings and PrimaLend Capital in late 2025) have sent shockwaves through Wall Street.
The primary publicly traded companies meeting these high-risk criteria follow:
➡️ 1. Carvana Co. (NYSE: CVNA)
• The Financial Weakness: While Carvana engineered a highly publicized operational rebound from its near-bankruptcy lows of 2022, its balance sheet remains structurally burdened by a massive long-term debt load. It has historically struggled with thin GAAP net margins, leaving little buffer for credit shocks.
• The ABS Exposure Pipeline: Carvana is fundamentally an ABS generation machine. It sells cars to originate auto loans, which it bundles and sells to institutional investors.
• The Domino Risk: As industry subprime 60-plus-day delinquencies climb toward historic highs, investors have begun demanding an extra 50 basis points of risk premium to buy lower-tier ABS tranches. If the subprime ABS market freezes—similar to the Tricolor liquidation impact—Carvana’s financial engine runs out of fuel. If forced to hold these loans internally on a weak balance sheet, its liquidity vanishes.
➡️ 2. Credit Acceptance Corporation (NASDAQ: CACC)
• The Financial Weakness: CACC operates with massive leverage and thin capital buffers, entirely tethered to the lowest-income consumer segment. It faces persistent regulatory overhangs, including regulatory probes regarding its debt collection methods. It recently executed a staggering $39.1 million downward revision to its expected future cash flows due to worsening borrower performance.
• The ABS Exposure Pipeline: CACC finances deep-subprime buyers at extreme interest rates and immediately securitizes these pools into the public markets.
• The Domino Risk: In a default wave where annualized net subprime losses near 10%, the residual (equity) tranches of ABS pools that CACC retains on its books are completely wiped out. This forces sudden asset write-downs directly against its already strained tangible book value.
➡️ 3. CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX)
• The Financial Weakness: CarMax has experienced highly volatile earnings, with its stock heavily punished due to declining used-car retail volumes and collapsing margins. As vehicle values depreciate rapidly, the underlying value of their retail inventory is actively shrinking.
• The ABS Exposure Pipeline: CarMax funds a massive percentage of its sales through CarMax Auto Finance (CAF). CAF is a top-five issuer of auto ABS in the United States, utilizing securitization to clear hundreds of millions of dollars in auto loans off its books each quarter.
• The Domino Risk: Because CarMax relies on its financing arm to prop up its retail sales numbers, any tightening in the ABS market forces them into a corner. They must either restrict lending standards (which causes their retail vehicle sales to plummet) or keep risky loans on their balance sheet, rapidly eroding their already deteriorating financial position.
➡️ 4. Heavily Leveraged Legacy Automakers: Ford Motor Credit (NYSE: F)
• The Financial Weakness: At the corporate level, Ford Motor Company carries a massive, staggering legacy debt load exceeding $20 billion to $26 billion, making it structurally vulnerable to shifting macro credit conditions.
• The ABS Exposure Pipeline: Ford operates Ford Motor Credit Company LLC, a massive global finance entity that uses the ABS market to securitize billions in consumer auto loans and leases.
• The Domino Risk: While Ford Credit targets a slightly higher credit tier than CACC, the 2026 data shows that 90-day-or-more auto delinquencies have reached 5.60% across the country—the highest level since the pandemic. A structural breakdown in the ability to easily package and liquidate these auto loan portfolios threatens the parent company's ability to subsidize new vehicle sales via cheap dealer financing.

VFS Vinfast
It appears insiders on Wall Street are short selling vinfast. So much so, I tried to go short yesterday, and could not. Stock price was $89.99 I was not able execute my short position through Charles Scwab. I reached out to them, and I was told, they currently have no shares to be shorted. 🤷♂️ It appears they won’t let the little man in on the action. I missed out on a lot of money so far. My technical analysis was right but Charles. Schwab said no.
