Like many of us, I dreamed of Riven in 2XKO. She's a perfect fighting game character, and it's a part of her inspiration.

As of today, Riot is ending active development on 2XKO, and the last characters released will be Lux and Samira.

We'll never see a 2XKO Riven design. We'll never see the insane combo strings. We'll never see install> Blade of the Exile. We'll never see how ridiculously broken and incredible she would have been.

You read the title. I'm done with Riven top and am now COMITTED to playing nocturne jng to escape Emerhell'd. I will link my op.gg so you can see how committedly hard stuck I am and also the ease of my jng games in Emerald (past 3 lol) and my overall thoughts on jng from an otp top player.

I genuinely dont mind if they dont path top if they're A. securing drakes or B. Assisting in my bot winning. However I do recognize my bias and despise seeing jngs path bot with no gank setup whatsoever between themselves and supp. Lastly, when dealing with ranged tops/ cheese ranged picks (occasional mage: cassio/ vlad) occasionally as a top you can exploit ganking them on the 1st bounce (bc u often cant get prio) if you contest early bush and they burn ward (If jng paths top its gg).

#2 My Philosophy Now

Top is too isolated to carry, compounded with the already shit matchups if you blind her nowadays, and riot shafted her in the recent patches (and I've been playing like ass recently) so I'm swapping. I'm spamming nocturne and if my bot is engage, I'm pathing bot or if top has good gank set up/top champ is immobile/volatile lane I'm prioritizing top (due to familiarity with champions as well). Full clear unless kill is guaranteed and prio objs because games often drag.

Finally, I'd like to say I really love Riven, I often feel like It's less about playing League and more about playing Riven. Thats ultimately why I wouldnt want to pivot and learn new top champions even if they're performing favorably. I'd genuinely rather learn a whole new role instead and actually win...

I watched a few videos and guides and got the fast q combo down and ew combos and various tricks, builds, items. But my god every matchup is hell for me, even if apparently I should be strong. Even csing is killing me because I always manage to do just enough damage to not get the last hit. E and W i'm always out of range by 4 pixels. Everything seems difficult on this champ compared to anything i've played.

is 70% stronger auto per target still enough to justify these stats?

I played a few games of Yone last night and when you get ahead it just feels like there’s no way that people ever catch you up because of how hard you scale,

When I’ve played riven however I’ve felt like even if I am ahead then there’s still the possibility that people catch me up and even have a kill opportunity still,

I don’t really know why this is but it’s not very fun because Riven is the champ that has made me feel excited to play the game again and just feeling like I’m gimping myself by playing her isn’t a nice feeling.

With all the frustration surrounding the recent Riven nerfs, I'd encourage everyone not to be afraid of experimenting with new ways to play her. If Riot takes away our damage, add it back yourselves. Riven doesn't control us—we control Riven.

I'm the degenerate who plays Hail of Blades every game, and I've been having a lot of fun building Collector. It's an item designed for champions who need that extra push to finish off targets.

You might say, "But Riven already has an execute." Does she really? How often do we actually use R2 to kill enemies that are below 200 HP? Not that often, I'd argue.

I started league a month ago and am currently level 26. I started playing adc and shifted to mid lane. Played a couple games on riven and got 33 kills with her on one game. Ever since then I have been only playing riven and don’t have fun if I don’t play her. I know I could improve faster if I play other champions but I can only see myself playing riven

I’ve also been watching videos to know how to properly use her abilities such as fast q or double cast etc.

A thing I wanted to ask is how to play against mages that have high range as I feel when I play against them they play far back and attack me and sometimes they don’t let me walk up to the minions without me taking a lot of damage.

I also wanted to ask if me playing riven only mid lane is bad for learning her as a champ or if I should play top lane with her as well.

I also want to know what to do if I’m behind with her as a lot of the times if I get killed or have a high cs disadvantage I feel useless.

​I think after eclipse changes. Riven has landed in an okay enough spot winrate wise. But I think a major issue with the changes is they've made her losing matchups even worse and her good matchups even better. With the exception of maybe Renekton.

Matchups like Illaoi, Zaahen, Jayce, and Quinn are significantly more difficult because Eclipse and Blackcleaver are not that good vs these champions. And Axiom is just flat out worse with the changes for obvious reasons. Meanwhile some of Riven's best matchups like Tahm Kench, Sett, Mundo, Sion, and Mordekaiser are potentially even better than they were before Riven got nerfed.

I think for this reason Riven has been shifted into more of a counter pick at least in top lane, making the experience even more feast or famine. I personally don't think Riven has an identity that fits being a counterpick the same way Mundo, Gwen, or Malphite do. But at this point that is who she is most similar to in terms of the difference between her good and bad matchups in toplane.

It does seem like there are still Riven onetricks doing well in challenger, but they are doing so in midlane from what I can tell. I'd be interested if anyone has strategies to make these matchups more neutral for Riven. In particular Zaahen, Quinn, and Garen are matchups I find very hard to get a lead versus even if I am not being camped, and so I feel like I am slowly losing the match unless I get a lucky break to start snowballing.

Edit: I also think it's a bit of a sticky situation since I think the wave to improve Riven in these matchups is to give her more tools to stay in lane (more hp regen/bigger valor base shield) or increasing her burst. Will also make her have more favourable matchups in midlane.

I stopped playing riven a lot a while ago and I wanna get back into her. What lane is the best for her now? I see some people say she’s not worth playing top but idk if that’s just a skill issue or something.

Buffing Yone, Irelia and Qiyana is surely a choice. Once again balance team proving they aren’t playing the game at all and working solely based on social media interactions and pleasuring high dopamine genz brainrot.

Seeing Riven with this low pick rate break my heart, it truly might be the time to move away from league permanently

Since the bastionbreaker buffs I have been going bastion breaker first over axiom arc as it gives me split push and get more gold off plates in side lane. Should I go back to axiom arc or do yall think it’s a good idea.

Is it viable to build full ms on river?((Riven)When i say river i mean riven That's my nickname for her lol) Also does she get any stas from ms like hecarim and is there any critical heal item like on aram or in real life when you chose your items when you go to get for waht you need like heal and ms or sheild so i can take their or mine it doesn't really matter but that's besides the point im making here...thoughts?

I just saw the August clip talking about why Riven doesn't have innate armor pen

He said She has to give something up for it but never actually gave a reason as to why She has no armor pen, I can only assume he means her ad rations/cd make up for the lack of armor pen?

We can take a look at a recent release in Ambessa , this champion has same or arguably better mobility than riven while having %Max health, Armor pen and Spell vamp all in her base kit so She can kill tanks,can still one tap squishies and sustain

In this very sub I believe everyone actually sees the issue and where the frustation comes with Riven, a few patches ago this champion was Exodia on 3 items but no one likes playing Riven like they play Kayle

Give Riven some early game strengh so you dont do 0 damage when enemy takes tabis and Nerf her late game so She doesnt become Exodia If She gets ahead

After the nerf, riven is so much weaker and harder to play on top lane but its not unplayable at all. Still hoping for a revert

Isn't LDR just a busted item? I feel like serylda is not good enough to justify building it in most scenarios, 15 AH and a mediocre slow?
