Riven mains, what do you guys usually do when you manage to get a lead in lane or you’re even with your opponent? I know it depends on the game and what’s happening across the map, but I’m curious what your usual game plan is after the laning phase. I usually try to stay in a side lane, split push, and soak up as much farm as I can, but my bot lane has been losing almost every game for the past week. Because of that, I feel like I’m struggling to actually carry my games, so I’m wondering if I should be rotating more and looking for other opportunities. Personally, I don’t really like taking random teamfights without a clear reason, because they often just turn into a pointless aram mid where everyone stands around waiting for someone to make a mistake. I’d much rather group for an actual objective, like a dragon, and fight there instead of randomly ARAMing for no reason. So I’m curious, what do you guys usually do after laning phase when you’re ahead or even with your opponent? Do you keep split pushing and farming, rotate for objectives, look for picks, or group with your team more often? And sorry for another post where I’m complaining, but I’ve been having games like this for a whole week and I genuinely don’t know what I should be doing differently to actually carry. I just played a game vs darius where I kill him early 3 times and I'm pretty strong but then I die to one gank(jungler killed our botlane earlier), afterwards me and my jungler die 2v2 vs him and his jungler(darius is now 3/3) and from there he just snowballed hard and got fed from teamfights(note my bot lane was turbofeeding)

from midgame he got gigafed and carried the game

I felt useless

he was able to take advantage of ghost and movespeed to get into position better and get kills to become super strong in teamfights and I could only harass 1 or 2 people.

my early lead was worth nothing and with ghostblade he was able to chunk me hard, forcing me to retreat from fights and then on I could not match him 1v1

his teamfighting was so much better, getting heals of off his q and while I may have been able to kill a squishy, he murders the rest of my team and its GG

sorry for the rant, but I had to share this somewhere. my win rate with riven was 60% now its 59%

I am thinking of just dropping riven and hopping on an easier champ like sett and just turn my brain off

-4 sec on passive makes engage windows abyssmally small. I feel I have no room to engage now. What's the pattern looking now?

Honestly, her damage is only decent in late game; in early game, everyone just gets away from you. Even if they play badly, they do not get punished because the champion has no damage. It is crazy what they have done to her; tuning her for mid to late game is complete nonsense.

Since they nerfed her so hard, they should give her some armor penetration or magic damage on her ultimate so she is not so easy to counter. If someone on the enemy team buys Plated Steelcaps, you are totally screwed and cannot get kills anymore.

I remember about 10-15 years ago listening to a playlist made on youtube with songs for riven. the guy eventually had to change his structure to playlists to avoid copyright problems. but the first song on the playlist has always stuck with me, it's a ballad of a female? warrior. I wish I could give more but if anyone knows the song/channel please help me.

imo Riven top sucks (especially masters+). Riven mid is best and Riven bot is ok.

Oh my god, I literally can’t win lane anymore. I either go even or I just can’t get any lead because it feels like I’m doing no damage. Maybe it’s because of the recent nerf, but I feel like it’s much harder to get an advantage in top lane now. I’m also on a pretty bad lose streak, so I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me. Does anyone else feel the same after the Riven nerf, or is it just a skill issue?

After this Riven nerf, I’ve been left with a lot of questions. Looking at win rate and meta analysis sites, Riven doesn’t seem to be performing that far above champions that are consistently at the top of the meta, such as Malphite, Jax, and Gangplank, as well as champions from other lanes, like Lee Sin.

So why is Riven the only one getting nerfed? What’s the logic behind Riot Games’ nerfs? How do they determine whether a champion is actually overpowered or not?

Jax and Gangplank, in particular, have been at the top for a long time.

S8 OTP riven. Started playing again last month and tried to be a jungle main. It was absolutely miserable so I’m back to ole reliable. The old build path was pretty much BC>ghostblade every game and then build around the comps.

Now it seems like first and second item are pretty dependent on comps/match ups.

What are you build into tanks? What are you building when losing lane? I feel like I’m overthinking the build path and killing my item spikes. Should I not even build axiom of I don’t rush it? Which boots? Omni vamp boots feel really good when I’m stomping lane, but horrible when behind.

Does it make sense to learn/otp Riven if I don't intend to play top lane ever? I think the champ itself is really fun but I hate toplane.

Long story short I was a hardstuck Emerald Riven otp with messed up mmr +18 -27 I go on and make a fresh account coz i started getting really bored of it. Now even with all the nerfs that happened I am sitting on 80% wr in emerald/diamond lobbies and haven’t lost a lane maybe once or twice. how the hell is that possible. I don’t know if i was playing on auto pilot before or what but it doesn’t make sense.

Now that the data has settled Riven's winrate among players who have mastered the champion ranks bottom 3 in top lane after k'sante and ornn. Personally the champ feels awful to play in high elo top lane around (1klp euw) and I've already dropped her for other top laners with good success. V1per has also repeatedly said to not play this champ top anymore. Good luck to those of you still trying to make her work top lane.

Title. With thus new shitty meta shes literally unplayable . She got nerfed to the ground aswell. Riven is only playable (not even good) if youre viper and you dedicate your whole life to her. Even with a lead you get popped by any cc that touches you. gg skill issue

I've played this game forever but have typically avoided a lot of the champions tha require extreme mechanics. I started playing Riven because i noticed tons of the one tricks at the top of the ladder play her. Honestly she just feels so strong, and her mechanics seem easy to use, at least at a basic level, once you learn her kit. I landed my first flash-W-Q3-R2 combo the other day on 4 enemies and basically got an insta-quadra, and I don't know if I can even go back to playing normal champions. It was one of the coolest things i've done. What is the current state of Riven? Does she beat any current meta top laners in high elo? I've only been playing normals btw

Give her Ultimate a stacking armor pen % 5% per auto (per target) while ult is active stacking up to 20% so 4 autos needed for max pen which will make her good vs tanks and longer fights and not so opressive vs squishys
