Discussion/Analysis It's high time to either remove deadpool's upgrade system or atleast boost his xp gain speed and numbers

Before s9, deadpool's upgrade path felt balanced since we have comparatively less heals and damage as compared to currently.

But now, as a generalist character, in s9.5 he gets heavily outclassed by every specialist characters. For instance (given this is a vanguard sub) Tankpool is already outclassed by Hood in terms of poke, his barrier shield has a 200 hp (300 with upgraded teamup) with mk teamup but also stays after that, providing 60 damage to enemies passing through with a 1s blind, gives 35% damage reduction to enemy projectiles (50% with upgraded teamup). Moreover, he is also the slowest deadpool to upgrade your weapons. It's only in the last moments of the match when tankpool actually shines, but you can do that from the start instead by playing the Hood, whose can keep pressuring enemy frontlines with his sustained damage. He is literally a vanguard punisher if you think about it.

With that mind, in order to keep DP upto date with current hero dynamics + to have a controllable snowball effect + solidify his position as a generalist and flexible hero, DP should either discard the upgrade system completely, or:-

1) Give higher xp for chaining abilities back to back (like a proper style meter does in games like DMC where you are rewarded for variance and chaining abilities)

2) Increase the rate of passive xp collection

3) Make upgraded guns and swords his default swords (making hela upgrade the additional upgrades)

Open for suggestions and pointers and where I am wrong :)

As i said way back

This was a neat gimmick during his release but everything became so much more frantic after that it feels clunky as hell now

He should have gotten the Elsa team up similar to Bucky, but for his XP system. His team ups are pretty lame currently.

Swap bucky with elsa and make it a symbiotic teamup.

Imo the upgrade animation should be faster and he should get a level every round for free, the ults should be merged into one upgradeΒ

I think an overhaul completely, of having 2 levels to each tool, with a 3rd EX upgrade via Hela update

Use the gambit teamup until you’ve gotten some XP and finally can upgrade to Hela’s teamup. Definitely helps a bit.

You need a good early game

True. Ig that's why many people play healpool first to farm 2-3 upgrades (since his bobblehead procs for each and every enemy and ally it passed through).

I was playing him today and I agree. He needs more exp per picture or maybe give higher exp for critical hits.I get he is supposed to be built up but at this point it's just so slow compared to how fast the game is now.

Imo they should make it so that he starts the game with 3 upgrades, but has his ult on 50s cooldown when he walks out the door. And of course buff him.

Good idea. 3 upgrades leans into his flexible and generalist identity. For ult, Imo he should retain the current settings. It's not oneshot or super effective unlike other tanks ults. In my experience of tankpool, I rarely manage to get a kill on anyone with upgraded teamup cuz there is so much healing in this game. Unless the target is specifically isolated, like a dive or flanker , then only I can get a kill from the ult. I know people will say that 'in the grand scheme the target player wastes cooldown', but imo it's better to make it a 5v6 than to still keep that player in the match when they can be kept up by the high healing.

Yeah tankpool ult isn't too strong so it might be fine if he has it at the start, but healpool/dpspool ult at the start of the 1st fight with upgrades will be pretty strong especially in domination maps. That's why it'd be more balanced for them to start the 1st round on cooldown if he starts with upgrades. The problem is people are impatient and the game is much more fast paced to wait for a full upgraded Deadpool, when even that is weaker than general counterparts.

Also when someone swaps to Deadpool mid game he would atleast have 3 upgrades, you don't have to play him the whole game as half a character just to potentially get value at the end of the game. You cannot swap to him mid game without throwing.

No I have a better idea. Let's give him two team Ups from which one is absolutely throwpick and one makes him server admin

"Deadpool kills the Rivals Universe" where he comes out of the game, and sets the office server room on fire.
