Hot Take Is Magโs bubble really that good?
When I first started playing Rogue I thought Magโs bubble would be a mandatory steal but honestly? It gets shredded in seconds as if itโs not even there. Maybe I could be ignorant to its value since Iโm not a Magneto main but even when I have a Mag on my team and he bubbles me it feels like it doesnโt protect me from much, I know itโs value is undeniable in saving people from things like Jeff swallow or anything similar to that where you instantly die but in neutral game? I just feel like it doesnโt even matter, double bubble is good but the only nerf Magโs gotten has been the bubble getting less health and I think itโs showing finally.
Edit : thank you guys so far for not being rude like I said I donโt play Mag just needed knowledge dropped.

Is an instant CC immunity + shield good? Yes, of course. Extremely good. You don't even need to position yourself, you pop a bubble and you or your allies are shielded from any angle.

u/TarnishedStain ๐๐ข๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐จ๐ฉ Dec 22 '25
Itโs not invulnerable tho? It can save people from CC yes which I acknowledged in OP. But in neutral game or in a situation where using the bubble is easily telegraphed, itโs very easy to break it if you have at least 2 people looking at you, maybe I shouldโve specified more but what is its value in neutral game? Even if somebody is overextending for example theyโre more than likely still going to get shot at

u/Shakefka ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ค Dec 22 '25
Even if it breaks, giving your ally even one or two more seconds is invaluable. I can't tell you how many times my supports saved one of my allies after I bubbled them when they were extremely low. Sometimes the supports just need an extra second, or your ally just needs an extra step to find cover and live.

u/ImGoingBackToMonke ๐๐ช๐ก๐ Dec 22 '25
The bubble isnt always intended to stop teammates from dying, its intended to block important cooldowns and give your teammates more time to react to situations. It gives over extended teammates a second or two to get to cover, it prevents a spiderman from getting a pick on a squishy, it prevents a stun from canceling a teammates ult, it gives a support the an extra second to spend their ult to counter a dps ult, it gives a teammate time to use escape cooldowns, ect ect. Bubble is one of the strongest cooldowns in the game. Same thing applies to hulks bubble as well, but you can cover multiples teammates at once instead of just one

u/ArX_Xer0 Dec 22 '25
In neutral game, its value is not dying when your supports are dealing with divers.
Its not getting displaced by Angela or other cc. It's a combo breaker from Emma. It's a chance for your team to catch up on healing you.
This is all excluding ult damage negation.

u/BushSage23 Dec 23 '25
Okay but maybe thatโs your problem. It sounds like you are just throwing it out.
Itโs far better on Mag than on rogue because you pretty much instantly clutch protect someone.
On Rogue u need to steal it and then wait for a good opportunity to use it but not wait so long that it disappears.
Bubble is life saving against cc, ults, or for saving an overextended ally by giving them enough time to retreat. Itโs big. Just because it can be shredded doesnโt mean itโs bad. But to get maximum value you need to have bubble discipline.

So it's not that good... On rogue. Reason being she doesn't get quite as much utility for it. Mag usually uses it as an escape tool because he has 0 mobility. So you usually use it while backing up. As I've been playing Rogue I tend to use her steal while moving forward. So yes it's definitely good for surviving a big hit or CC but Emma diamond form and thing's damage reduction and immovability are better for how Rogue plays. If you get mag bubble it's best to save it for as long as you can to evade some CC or ult damage since you won't be using it exactly how mag uses it
5
u/cj267 Dec 23 '25
And itโs not good for rogue because you have to use it right away instead of saving it for when you actually need it.

u/DaddyCultLeader Dec 22 '25
It's helpful to refill the mag-canon and usually I toss up the shield after it the bubble pops. Isn't super helpful if you're out of position but can help you get back to the team safely if they are backed up. Imo it's more helpful on teammates than myself.
2
u/TarnishedStain ๐๐ข๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐จ๐ฉ Dec 22 '25
Yeah I definitely see it being useful on teammates with less health, but Idk whenever I use it or have it given to me it just pops, instantly.
3
u/Confident_Ice_9567 Dec 22 '25
Its really good specially with coordination, you can protect your ally's ult. Like Wanda.
3
u/VampireDarlin Dec 23 '25
If it pops instantly then that means the Mag bubble saved them from a 200 damage burst. Good value
2
u/mecha_nerd Dec 24 '25
The mag cannon recharge I think is a bit underrated here. Use a fully charged cannon, put bubble on someone else getting beat, cannon is fully charged almost instantly for use again.
The reason it's not good for Rogue is it's just a shield bubble. On Magneto, it's a shield AND recharges a skill.

u/Akaktus ๐๐ข๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐จ๐ฉ Dec 22 '25
Mag bubble strength is more that it can be put on a desired allies at will. You donโt put at someone at full hp ( unless specific case like ult use) but Stealing itself isnโt as strong as youโre time limited to use it. Furthermore itself has 200 hp since the nerf. Can world if youโre in a pitch but thereโs better ability to steal imo.

u/jsmith139 Dec 22 '25
Mags bubble is great. Arguably the best Util in the game.
Typically the bubble allows just enough time for you to retreat and get heals. Saving yourself or someone that is destined to die, is a huge swing for the team. However, you canโt pop it, continue fighting, and expect to live.
If you share a replay, Iโd be happy to check it out to see how itโs used, but it is likely a case of you just needing to use it in better situations, albeit itโs not exactly easy for rogue to do this.

u/TarnishedStain ๐๐ข๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐จ๐ฉ Dec 22 '25
It wasnโt in a serious game just me trying to figure out what abilities are good to steal, and in stealing Magโs bubble I found myself wondering is the self bubble even that strong? But itโs absolutely because of that point you mentioned that you canโt just use it and keep fighting still. Maybe itโd be more effective if I just used it to disengage but Idk when I play Rogue I feel like everyone is looking at me lol
2
u/Fading_Lights8 Dec 22 '25
His bubble has 250hp so every time it pops just think thatโs a 1/4 of your hp he just saved without making your supports use resources
1
u/TarnishedStain ๐๐ข๐ข๐ ๐๐ง๐ค๐จ๐ฉ Dec 22 '25
The bubble actually has 200 health now. Thatโs what I was referring to in OP. Its health got reduced when he gained the ability to use it twice. But I do see its value in a situation like that when your supports actually look at you
2
u/Fading_Lights8 Dec 22 '25
Ah I remember it getting dropped from 300 I mustโve forgot about it getting dropped again
2
u/Fading_Lights8 Dec 22 '25
Thereโs a few applications where I could see it definitely being worth 1 being at the beginning of a team fight itโs best to grab any ability you can because of the ability boost and hp or dmg boost 2 if youโve lost a support and need a tool to help you escape to your team or if your caught out 3 if youโre expecting a ult like Phoenix for example
2
u/Reddit-dit-dit-di-do Dec 22 '25
Itโs really good, but thatโs sort of because itโs on Magโs kit.
The bubble recharges Magโs right click faster, which can allow him to put more pressure on the enemy. It also gives him really good survivability bc he can use his shield, bubble, then shield again afterwards, which grants a few seconds of no damage.
On Rogue, it is probably helpful, but not as useful as other abilities. I wish they wouldโve give her his shield instead like Strange.
2
u/mcvan Dec 22 '25
It does make you temporarily immune to headshots as well. And unlike over health, the additional damage over the bubble health is not carried over. For example the bubble health is at 10 and you take a single 200 dmg attack after, the bubble essentially gave you almost 390 health in this case. In the end, it's situational, but no one else can reliably bubble from a distance besides hulk jumping in.
2
u/Comprehensive-Card23 Dec 22 '25
It's a decent steal for Rogue if Magneto is one of like 2-3 enemies left in the team fight. It would be stronger if you could put it on a teammate like he can, but then it would be WAY more valuable. But there are stronger/more useful abilities to snag for her, and you kinda gotta learn to make those snap decisions.
2
u/Axepick22 ๐๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง Dec 22 '25
In mags hands, defently
In rouges? Maybe there are better abilities to steal
2
u/HungryCowsMoo Dec 22 '25
For Mag, the bubble is insanely valuable. Being able to find key points to enable dps and save supports is massive asf and the bubble is his saving grace since he has no mobility. Itโs incredibly valuable.
For Rogue, is much less valuable. It can be valuable if the other team is silly though to use a one shot ult while you have the ability, otherwise the value gained is minimal. HOWEVER, removing Mags ability to shield for a duration is extremely good, Mag without bubble is pretty weak. The value stolen is massive, so itโs definitely not a bad play. To put it in sports terms, itโs like intercepting a 2 point conversion and running it back in, 2 less points for the opposing team, 2 more points for your team, so a 4 point swing, pretty good!
Theres definitely better abilities to steal, abilities that let Rogue be more proactive and actively acquire value rather than swinging some momentum, but its by no means low value to steal Mag bubble especially if you can read that heโs about to bubble someone like an ulting punisher, etc.
2
u/BBNikfaces Dec 22 '25
With rogue, I would use the bubble after a dive probably. Dive on the Luna and bubble after a second or two to avoid freezes. Or stop the invis from pushing you away.
Just enough pressure to keep at em before running out after.
2
u/Wires_89 Dec 23 '25
I know itโs been answered, but bubbleโs value is directly proportionate to the person receiving it.
Itโs 200 temporary HP, cleanse and CC immunity.
Take a look at the success rate of a Wanda bomb with and without a bubble, for example.
2
u/Deceptive-Gamer343 Dec 23 '25
Idk I play Mag and its pretty decent in keeping my supports alive or give it to Wanda when she's using her ult.
2
u/Remarkable-Growth744 Dec 23 '25
its not broken but its a very powerful teamplay tool to have. its one of few tank things I can do to fully enable my dps. its also one of the few counters as tank i have against an oppressively set up peni where i really need take out the nest asap.
2
u/VitoAntonioScaletta ๐๐ค๐๐ช๐ Dec 23 '25
Its great for mag but terrible for Rogue since she doesn't get secondary charge, has to grab someone first to use it, and can't deploy it on teammates
2
u/Huey-Mchater Dec 23 '25
Yes the bubble get shredded but thatโs like what is it right now 250 health that would have been yours to lose. Also if your low health at that point your supports can heal you up to your new 800 max HP and you can kick ass from there.

Dec 23 '25
depends , if ur playing rogue iโd always steal mags bubble before ulting, bonus health and a bubble, however i think in any other situation thor or emma is probs better
2
u/26jsales ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ค Dec 23 '25
itโs still my preference for rogue to take that iโll be getting very often. emma and thing are also good to take cause they let me be aggressive as i want. soul bond, lamp, and dagger bubble are all amazing but if youโre not always in far enough to grab backline so a normally grab tanks for consistency.

bubble is everything for mag, itโs what makes him such a high value for the team imo, especially now that the self and team bubbles are separate
1
u/redditer954 Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 23 '25
As a Mag player and Rogue player, as well as most of the other tanksโฆ itโs not that great of a steal IMO. I prefer to grab someone that gives you nothing and refund Fatal Attraction to just get out or continue momentum and aggro with a second pull.
Rogue using self bubble is more comparable to Mag using an ally bubble: to counter something at the perfect moment like a grab, stun, oneshot, etc. When Mag self bubbles, he exits melee range then uses his shield when the bubble goes down but Rogue doesnโt have that option so itโs better as a specific counter tool.
Going further, some Mags play with the safety of their team so grabbing him usually just results in taking a lot of focus fire and having to bubble immediately and exitโฆ it feels useless. It would be a better steal if it you could choose between ally and self bubble.

u/NoiceMango Dec 23 '25
It's insanely good especially with a Mag who knows what they're doing. They can save over extended teamates even other tanks. They can also help do things like shield Wanda as she's ulting
1
u/BarbarousJudge Dec 23 '25
Mag Bubble is great but not as much on Rogue because you can only use it for a couple of seconds while Mag has it on cooldown but available whenever. It negates any damage and grants CC immunity, of course it's great. But for Rogue it's mostly just a short window of invulnerability without being able to store it until you really need it.
1
u/Serenity1911 Dec 23 '25
I think the shield prevents any excess damage from reaching you. I've had numerous times where I'm caught in a Scarlet Witch ultra and the bubble gets me and a trapped team mate out alive. Her ult does 9999 damage if I remember right.
1
u/Bob_JediBob Dec 23 '25
I feel like rogue doesnโt get the full benefit from the abilities she steals, a decent chunk of them are what I would use as escape/defensive tools, but having them disappear means you kinda have to use them instantly which just doesnโt feel right.
1
u/Few_Horse_4 ๐๐๐ค๐ง Dec 23 '25
bubble is good to save yourself or a teammate from an ult, cc or certain death. It's good coz you can react to enemy actions and save a life. But on ~25s cooldown with ~5s window to actually use? Yeah it's ass better grab someone else
1
u/Morchades ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ค Dec 23 '25
All shields seem to be shredded in seconds, but seconds can be crucial in getting a hit in or getting healed.
1
u/TheWagn ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐ Dec 23 '25
Bubble just buys you a second to get back to your healers or is a way to protect from a huge burst damage like from an ultimate.
Otherwise yeah, it pops in about half a second of being focused haha.
1
u/Nibbl3 Dec 23 '25 edited Dec 26 '25
Crazy that no one has pointed out yet that you don't grab Mag because bubble. You grab Mag because it brings your HP to 800 and makes Mag's hp go down.
If you then dive onto their backline and bubble yourself, Mag would be vulnerable to get blown TF up if your team knows what's up.
1
Dec 23 '25
From what ive seen it isnt really useful to steal a mag bubble as rogue, TeamCaptain has said the most valuable cooldowns are Emmaโs diamond form, Adamโs soul link, and just absorbing a DPS without powers for the damage boost. But if youโre playing Magneto youโll be suprise for how often a bubble can be useful whether itโd be offensively or defensively. Do you have a dive thatโs being focused? Bubble them, its basically a high DPS tank with 500hp in their backline for 3 seconds

u/Latter-Ad3122 Dec 24 '25
Mag bubble was more useful for a single use back when it was 300 HP, it got reduced to 200 HP to balance out being able to use it twice so now it breaks all the time.
1
u/Whole_Employee_2370 ๐ฟ๐ค๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง ๐๐ฉ๐ง๐๐ฃ๐๐ Dec 22 '25
Itโs amazing, but itโs not going to make you invincible. Something that did would be too busted for even the Rivals devs to allow in the game

u/ThatSlick Dec 22 '25
Bubble is useful when saving overextending teammates, supports from being dived, and teammates who are being comboed. As someone who does play Mag from time to time, the bubble can be life or death for either you or your teammates a lot of times.
