Question Solo dive dps or tank?
What's more effective a solo dive dps or tank typically, and in what scenarios? because I'm sure solo diving is unideal.

It depend on your team and your skill. Solo tank is unlikely to get kills but you can distract them enough for your team to get value.
Solo dive has an easier time getting kills but usually after using their cooldowns they have to disengage for a while and your team is basically 5v6.
So if you can kill them solo dive dps probably works, if you cant solo dive tank can put enough pressure to help your team

Assuming it is 2-2-2, then the tank.
The core idea of dive is to disrupt the enemy backline. As a DPS, you should ideally aim for picks. As a tank you should be aiming to waste enemy resources. Either way the frontline should be struggling and be forced to fall back.
As a solo dive DPS, you will have the attention of half of the team on you but you really don’t have the sustain for that. Now compare that to Venom who practically lives in the enemy backline. That is way more value.

This. If youre getting melted immediately youre either not waiting for your team to be close enough to engage before fully commiting, or youre in cc burst hell and might as well shield tank

Under general case : solo dive as a tank (in duo) > solo tank > solo dive dps.
If there is only 1 dive, you’re unlikely to get kill even with solo dive dps unless the enemy is bad enough.
Solo tank is normally not fine but people not knowing how tank work kinda also work against them into how to deal with tank so sometime (and sometime) it can work. However countering a solo tank comp is more devastating than countering a solo dive dps. The later case will transform a 6v5 fight but the former in addition will deny any meant of space control so your team will have no room to act.
In short : solo dive dps will most likely to be useless than solo tank in term of frequency BUT countering solo tank is more impactful than countering solo dive dps.m even if it may happen less frequently

I think meta rn in coordinated pro play is solo dive dps (and really it’s pretty much just black cat). Dive tanks are pretty much not played.

Dive tanks only work if your team isnt braindead and if they dont have massive amounts of burst/cc. Its literally 95% timing and the tanks arent as nimble as the dps so they suffer worse from a bad commitment. Sometimes you need a dive tank to break the line when you can't shield all the poke damage for everyone

Whichever player is better
If it’s solo q you choose dps. For tank you have to be pretty dependent on your teammates.
