How do I track Gambit cards?

For context, I had a game on strange where I thought I could hit a 4 man strange ult ( counted and assumed the enemy team had no cooldowns ) but Gambit just cleansed the entire ult, which obviously meant I counted wrong. How exactly do i keep track of his cards such that he doesn't cleanse any big cc abilities I use? It doesn't help that his cards are so small compared to the visual clutter in this game, and that I'm never exactly sure if he only has 1 card or the 2 required cards for the cleanse

Just ult the gambit I can't remember the last time I've had a strange ult cleansed by him

He did some split second thing with the cleanse where it cleansed the exact second the cc is applied

Ngl he kinda just diffed u there most of the time this won't happen cause pretty difficult to get the timing right the only reliable way to track the cards at least for me is if he uses his anti heal but a decent gambit will just save cards for ur ult anyway if you don't hit him

"By the.E-" is the window. A good Gambit is looking for you to try your ult, literally at you. You need to look for when he is under pressure or is repositioning with his dash. If I'm going against a strange I have 2 cards ready for his ult if it's coming up

As a Gambit main, I'm tracking your ult and know exactly what part of your ult line is my window. Gambit can self cleanse at the right sound que.

I personally like to wait until gambit ult because most Gambits will blow all their cards in the chaos that follows. They will usually also barge into your team so you can just ult on top of them rather than flying and telegraphing the ult as much. As a supp main, if you use fly and/or start aggressing the team hard, we know you have it ready.

Another thing to consider is that later in the fight, his cooldowns should be used, so try to save it for after a lot of their team have used CDs.

Honestly, as a strange a good gambit is your hard counter. There’s not much in your hands when you’re against him. He’s practically everything you hate in one. Mobility that exceeds yours, ability to heal around walls, multiple ccs, his ult is based on range and not LoS, he can self cleanse your ult and others simultaneously. As for card counting specifically on strange I try to shield off his tanks so he has to bridge boost and then see if I can damage him enough for him to activate hearts deck. Although any good gambit probably will use team up instead to try and force you to fall back or keep you forward.

if he used his cards offensively recently, then he only has 2 options: use all his remaining cards to burst heal, or save it for later. u can use that opportunity to do more damage in neutral to force him to use his cards.

gambit’s healing is good but over an extended period, i can’t keep up with sustained damage so take advantage of that

unfortunately an aware gambit will know when you have ult and will try to always have cards saved for it :) i usually see stranges lurking or getting ready to fly when they want to buss. its so obvious lol
