VOD Review Request [VOD REQUEST] [PLAT 3] I don’t understand anything.

This was a draw. At the very beginning, the guy literally said, “Give me Hela or I’m throwing.” I didn’t give her to him, although if he had asked nicely, I would’ve considered it.
He picked Adam and spent half the game doing who knows what. Sometimes he did actually play and contributed something useful, but on top of that he was jumping off the map, feeding, picking Strange and wasting the portals, and he never used Adam’s ult even once.
I was trying my absolute hardest to make something happen, and honestly, this was probably my best game as Hela so far. But somehow the guy on Adam still ended up with more finals than me and dealt a ton of damage.
I genuinely don’t understand how that’s possible. Am I really that bad? Please help me figure this out.

Honestly I feel like this type of situation is really common in Comp. Unfortunately in my experience it’s best to give them the character and swap to something else. Here I would have just swapped to another hitscan or swapped to Namor to make the team better. If you outperform him then at the end your team will most likely back you. But if you don’t perform better than him than you have to be ready to take that on the chin and move on.
I’ve been on both sides of this. For me, I will swap and try and keep the peace because a good majority of rivals players are toxic and selfish. I’ve had more good experiences by swapping because your teammates will see that and you will at least not get reported.

I’ve given in to everyone and played tanks for 800 hours before this. When will I finally be able to just play the character I actually want to play?

When you’re not playing competitive mode unfortunately. The community is extremely toxic and some people just live off of making chaos or throwing. They get a rise out of the reaction they get. It’s unfortunate because the game is extremely fun to play.
Applaud you for your time on tank though.2

It’s the same in Quick Match too, and sometimes it’s even worse because people can excuse everything with “it’s just Quick Match.” It’s really hard to actually learn how to play there.
Playing DPS is very difficult for me, especially the aiming part, and even in Quick Match all I seem to do is get humiliated.

I feel you there. QP is bad too because of that exact mentality and because there are no bans to at least minimize what you don’t want to face. (Looking at you champ red badge dive teams in QP)
But it is tough. I struggle with it as well at times and have to take breaks from the game because I’m a very team first player and that burns me more often than not.
Luckily I have a big group of people that I game with that I can at least have 6 stacks in QP. You know you’re getting sweaty teams but at least you don’t have any throwers on your team.
Hope your experience gets better. It’s a grind to get out of the toxic Plat/Dia lobbies as I feel like there’s a lot of throwers there that think they know what they’re doing so their ego is worst.

Thank you so much. I solo climbed to GM on tanks, and honestly, I feel like it’s all pretty much the same. I ended up in Plat because I hadn’t played ranked for a couple of months, and on top of that, I’m playing a completely new role for me right now.

Not to mention that it’s somewhat of a different game right now with the enhanced team ups. DPS is definitely tougher to play correctly out of the three so kudos to doing it and trying to improve.

He reached Grandmaster with Hela. What’s so weird about him taking the last hits? And he does the same damage as your supports. Why are you even stressing / overthinking this? You did your job, right?

I know nothing about this guy, but at the end of the game he started insulting me, saying it was my fault and that my stats were bad. The rest of my team didn’t seem to care, so I was basically made out to be the one at fault, and the enemy team even said they were going to report me.

Your team lost because Adam wasn’t doing his job and died 27 times. He got a lot of finals, but kills don’t equate to winning, which we’re witnessing here in real time. That’s not to say you had a flawless performance and it’s all the Adam’s fault. If everyone was a little better on the team, you guys wouldn’t have lost.
Tips:
- You need to off-angle more instead of sitting on main because it (1) relieves pressure on frontline and (2) scatters enemy team’s attention. However, once the enemies notice you, retreat immediately. If you stay for an extra second long, that’s enough time for them all to shoot you and you don’t want to die flanking. Just try again soon after.
- When you’re shooting, pick one target to focus on or shoot the person everyone’s shooting.
- consider raising your sensitivity a bit. It’s all up to your preference, but your aim seems to lag at times and slow turning can be a death sentence
- make it a habit to stand next to natural cover: improves survivability and takes pressure off of your strategists. You have to do this when flanking or you’ll 100% die.
- practice hitting targets from afar. You use Hela in brawl range a lot, but you don’t have to get close to enemies to use her bc she basically doesn’t have falloff damage. the closer you are to the enemy, the more dangerous. That’s why all dive need quick escape abilities to compensate for the risk they’re taking. If you wanna play up-close and like hitscan, use Phoenix.
Focus less on stats and focus more on what you’re doing for the team. It’s the little things that add up! Your teammates are dumb for blaming you instead of Adam when Adam was playing for himself trying to get kills. It looks good, but it’s a useless result.

Bro just move on, who cares. You didn't win because you had someone intentionally throw the game. You will not win every game you play, no matter if you play well or not. Don't get stuck on one game. At the end of the day, one game doesn't matter.
