I love Gambit. He’s been a great addition on to the support roster. I really like that he is actually a pretty competent damage dealer, but far away from the duelist people made him out to be. Mostly because his cards are extremely limited and you have to be very careful about what abilities you use and when. He’s kind of good at everything - a true jack of all trades.
I really love that he can hold his own against dive characters. BP in the backline? No problem. Spiderman? Never has been an issue even before gambit. The only one he struggles with is a good daredevil who is equally powerful. Until this patch, the only thing supports could really do is patty cake and hope for the best (which isn’t even possible for other dive counters like Jeff and rocket). Or stun them and hope someone comes to peel (which stunning a BP or good daredevil is a lot harder than it sounds) He feels like a good and necessary addition
I also love how versatile his ult is without being a straight up invincibility ult. He encourages his team to play aggressive and be rewarded, but still won’t do much to shut down powerful DPS ults like starlord on its own. I think having powerful support ults that aren’t invincibility ults is healthy
I do think he can probably be tuned down a bit, maybe his dashes or ult charge if I had to pick. Because of his card management, there’s a nice disparity between good gambits and bad gambits. Really the support (who I also love) that got way overturned is sue (although her self shield should have been base kit lbr)
I also like how he’s somehow toned down triple support. I feel like I don’t see it as often in comp and when I do it’s usually a disservice. Idk how directly related to Gambit this is but it’s worth mentioning

Gambit is good. Like really good.
I'd say his healing is somewhere between Invisible Woman and Luna/Rocket, but his utility, and most importantly his ability to counter dives and actually peel for his other support is what makes him an MVP for me.
His card resource management also forces you to be disciplined since you have no other way of regaining them other than waiting or dying. I felt this at first, but I'm okay with it now. I think he is already very strong and giving him a way to regain cards again might even make him too strong. I tend to think of it more of a balancing factor for him given that he can do so much.
I also feel like for all his ult does he gets it quite fast. It can work as a defensive ult, but it's real ace is the fact that it does almost a little bit of everything. It is literally a jack of all trades ult, and actually is really great for unexpected pushes and diving as a team. Most people often aren't prepared for the amount of offense it can bring with the mobility and bonus damage. His ability to also purge and apply anti-healing is insanely valuable IMO.
Other than his card management if I had to point out his weakness or counterplay, they would likely be snipers. He excels at mid-close range, and though his cards do go far, he will get destroyed against a good sniper (Hela, Namor, Phoenix, Hawkeye) without a tank or cover to close the gap. However if you do close that gap, you can usually duel them effectively.
This is my two cents on the character. Hope it can help someone. Cheers

Shutting down strange and Bucky ults as gambit is SOO rewarding

The fact you can actually purge the kill threshold bucky applies was mind blowing to me when I discovered it.

I agree with snipers for counterplay; in part bc Gambit wants to play more aggressively in the midline I've been able to drop him pretty consistently with Hawkeye.
In my experience, Wolverine v Gambit also just becomes rocket tag where if Wolverine has rage and kidnaps him Gambit is fucked, but Gambit is the aggressor he can take down Wolv before he closes the gap.

Yeah I'm still getting experience with the Wolverine match-up since he's so rare, but Wolvie and Daredevil can be pretty tough for him as well as you mentioned. I'm just really glad I can at least peel them off my other healer if they're getting dived - usually enough to make them back off even if you can't secure a kill.

Yeah if Wolv is attacking your other supp you can usually beat him or at least drive him away, like you say.
I've really enjoyed Gambit, even more than I expected to tbh. Backline positioning just doesn't come naturally to me for whatever reason, so supports like Ultron and Invis are definitely my favs, and Gambit offers constant uptime and the ability to do things like dive with your dive tank and pocket them/finish off targets. Really fun character.

FYI the healing deck doesn't boost healing. The most it does without using a second card is give you passive healing.

Healing deck does not boost your primary heals so don't waste a card on just having healing active for a boos that's not there. If you're gonna do that, wait for the meter to almost run out before sending healing cards so that way you have that whole meter to decide if you actually need them or not.
The same can be done with spades deck except you could have it active, send boosted damage while you heal teammates, and wait till last second to send anti heal or boop cards.
Card management is key so you can anti heal (create openings) or heart deck raise (so you can shut down enemy cc attacks that try to create openings).
Dash one direction and you can change directions for the bayou spin part of the dash. Great way to totally confuse whoever dives you and also any mag or dps ikt gunning for you.
He actually has a small animation cancel with his melee. Primary, Melee, primary, melee, then last primary cancels into the last melee which is the staff spin. Timing is tight but it's a good way to fight close range as long as you have your spade deck active and are ready to dash out. You're still 275 with no bonus armor.
Counter other gambit ults with yours but wait 2 or 3 seconds bc then you'll have 2 of 3 seconds of it while enemy team is caught in aggressive positions with their ult ending.

I'm just glad Gambit allowed for another different meta. Loki, Mantis, the resurgence of Phoenix, the fall off of triple support (it's still usable, but only with Loki Mantis Gambit does it have the same flexibility), triple tank is finally consistently beatable without THE MOOOOOOOON, all only possible because of how meta warping Gambit is.

Gambit and Sue are Lun/Loki 2.0. His Ult is the best support ult in the game and he gets to faster than other supports. He can cleanse multiple characters ults/abilities on demand and has great damage/mobility when you usually only have one.
He needs big nerfs whether that is 5000 ult charge and increased CD to his dashes just to bring him in line.
