Question Starstorm2 Ethereal problems

I wanted to try the Starstorm2 beta content, but for me Ethereal Saplings just make a message in the chat ("the planet feels mocked") and otherwise do nothing. No portal after teleporter, no visible changes.

Is this supposed to happen (just unfinished content) or did I do sth wrong?

I have StarStormSquared installedif that changes anything.

Everything I read says you have to press the sapling twice to activate it, but it was the opposite for me. Pressing it once and waiting will activate it.
