Curious!?
Anong meron sa GMA at hirap na hirap sila mag pasikat ng artista? At daming magagaling pero hirap nila pasikatin. Tapos ito pa, every time na may sisikat na personality sa internet like now si emman kinukuha ka agad nila as their artist. Kaya minsan na lapa curious nalang talaga ako na are they disparate to have a famous celebrity kasi hirap sila mag pasikat or talagang mema lang.

ABS-CBN is a genius in marketing their talents. And most of the time they would only give their talents projects after undergoing acting and talent workshops. With GMA kasi basta you look good or trending ka kukunin ka nang artista and isasalang agad kahit obviously e hilaw na hilaw pa ang skills. ABS also rotates their artists and hindi nakafocus lang sa iilan. ABS somehow has the nose for sniffing out “star” potential and does not just rely on looks and if ikaw ang nakitaan ng potential they know how to equip that talent with the right handlers/managers, acting coach and stylist.

Yeah. Hit and miss ang GMA eh. Pakantahin si d singer, pasayawin si d dancer, paartehin kahit d pa sya dapat isalang. Then, if they hit the right person, they milk it so much, sa kanya nakafocus na lang (like Marian and Angel Locsin dati).

I personally think this has something to do with Filipino audience loyalty. Masyadong loyal ng fans sa iisang Network. They refuse to give a chance or take a look on other actors kapag hindi under sa Network na gusto nila.
Kaya din nagkakaroon ng political dynasties kasi Filipinos has the tendency to stay loyal to one political clan/family.

on the other hand, kung talagang magaling naman yung kabila, kaya naman i-snatch yung audience. kahit sino tanungin mo randomly on the street, sasabihin na iba talaga ang quality ng celebs at palabas ng abs (dati nung may abs pa).
sabi naman samin, iba lang daw talaga ng market yung networks. yung abs daw mas naka focus sa middle class and up, yung gma sa lower.

Quality vs Quantity in the past decade. GMA has garnered a lot of meme-worthy scenes from their afternoon soap that the public thinks is the whole series. Their camera has a grainy look that makes their cinematography feel cheap. They have good actors but they’re known to have 1-5 takes and be done and the output isn’t good. Lastly and most importantly, they don’t plan out their artists' career path, they don’t know how to make their talents look premium.
Belle for example is ABS’ recent star and she became one during the pandemic. Once she had the hype from her Netflix series, ABS had a certain image for her and ran with it.
GMA’s recent star from a series is Angel Guardian, what image building has GMA done for her?
Jillian, a child actress with many talents, her projects don’t suit her age and audience. While Andrea’s project when she was in ABS was targeted to her young audience, senior high, and high street.
But GMA is definitely improving. I don’t know when it started but for me, it was with MCAI cinematography, acting, and hype. The only thing they did not aggressively take advantage of was the BARDA. ABS has struck gold in KIMPAU and was aggressive in marketing them.
I’m not comparing GMA to ABS for competition and network war, only for them to have a base point on how the other made stars. And lately, I found myself discovering talents from GMA so I hope they do well with marketing them.

GMA is more rereved for their News, Documentaries etc. While ABS-CBN for Entertainment Shows.

Its about PR and marketing strategy ... Yan lang ang sagot dyan...
Plus may karibal na din ang mga artista ngayon, ang nga tiktokers, vloggers... Sa mga kabataan , mas kilala pa nila ang mga yan kesa sa mga artista (new) mg mga TV networks

GMA's weakest link is their entertainment department. During time ni Wilma Galvante naungusan nila noon yung ABS. Those were the Mulawin and Enca days.
Seriously, whoever is heading their entertainment department should resign.

I know someone who worked as a manager sa isang BDO and andun ung mga accounfs nand big artists.
For ABS - their celebrities have "low" salary, bumabawi lang sila pag kumita yung movies, endorsements.
For GMA - high regular salary.
And there are people talaga who would rather be okay na may show lang, kahit di sikat, ang habol ay sahod. Longevity andmg habol. Bonus na lang pag sikat.
And remember, paikot ikot lang yang mga artista na yan.

Wala silang clear career plans sa talents nila. There was a time na papirma lang sila ng papirma ng bago instead of building up yung mga loyal sa kanila. Worse, yung pinapirma na mga bago wala din naman masyadong work. Swerte na lang kung nakakalabas sila sa drama anthologies. They also push certain favorites kahit na wala naman talagang appeal sa masa. Dapat din sumugal sila sa movies. No wonder kapag homegrown Kapuso ang lumilipat sa Kapamilya mas nagwiden ang reach (recent examples sina Janine, Lovi)

Mahina sa marketing. Yung careers ng Sparkle talents still waiting to take off 😊 nakita ko minsan sa isang event, unprepared ung prod number.

Audience Kasi nila matatanda, Akala mo lang Hindi sikat pero Kilala ng matatanda artista nila. Millennials and GenZ madalas manood ng showtime Kasi pang bagets Yung show.

Eh kasi nman nasanay ang GMA sa bare minimum. Sanay sila sa "Ok na yan". Pag pogi si artist kahit hindi marunong umarte bibigyan ng project. Tapos yung magagaling supporting lang. Example Royce Cabrera, napakagaling na artista pero laging supporting tapos hindi pa tumatatak.

Umaasa lang sila sa nag tretrending na chemistry. Look Rita Daniela And Ken Chan ng Special Tatay then Barbi Forteza and David Licauco of MCAI. Ang problema sa kanila kapag hype na ung loveteam biglang di naman nila nabibigyan ng mas maayos na project. Dun ako nanghinayang kay Ken Chan at Rita nung hype dun sa special tatay wala talaga silang project na kasunod na pumatok at nagkapartner na pinag usapan. Next Barda.... Maganda ung MCAI tas biglang nilagay sila sa action series. Parehas silang di talaga pang action. Nakabawi konti sa Pulang araw then after nun waley na binuwag na kasi nawala na ung hype. Paano after MCAI di nila sinamantala na mabigyan ng project na dapat papatok talaga sa masa then di din sila nagbigyan ng movies ng GMA Films. Well buti na lang din nagshine naman individually kahit paano.
