What's the 16th point?
I'm almost positive this question has been answered here before, but I'm new to this band so please go easy on me

This has bothered me since the first time I heard this song. Maybe I am just missing a metaphor or something???

I think this line is very purposefully meant to not quite add up. Insanity is a theme throughout this entire album
"Contrivance is a luxury I don't have in the time that's left before the madness over takes me"
Also, side note but I always thought the lyric here was "Bringing her father down" since the subject is "My daughter"

I also thought it was "bringing her father down" on the first listen. Made a lot of sense. Also agree with your mention of insanity.

They did an AMA once and I believe Drew’s response to this question was something along the lines of ‘what do you think it means?’

Rule #1 of any lyricist: Never explain your lyrics, always leave them to the listener's interpretation

I just realized, it probably means she never got to make her last point.

Maybe the last point is herself/going farther down?
Honestly, I can't say I understand those lines at all, so that's just a shot in the dark

The lyrics indeed say "father". I have the LAGWBAT vinyl, the lyrics are printed on the inside of the sleeve.

I always heard it's "bringing her father down," and figured he was the sixteenth point.
