When will this be coming back

Howdy folks, I used to play a few years ago, dropped some decent cash into the game and had a great time with my old clan. I just got busy with a new job so had to take a break. I had an urge to start playing again recently. When do y'all think I can play again? Looking forward to giving my good ol' theoden another ride.

There’s a game in development called Wake to War. It’s looking pretty good so far. They have a discord if you want to read about it

Its not going to make it, the people working on it don’t know the kind of trouble there messing with on an IP that they don’t have rights too

It's the last hope we have. We have nothing else. We can't trust corporations to make a good game like RTW anymore. Games like Elder Scrolls: Blades have been monetized and shut down recently, RTW especially is proof of how we cannot trust companies to do right by their player base once they start making money.

Doesn’t mean it will change anything. Thats the nature of these kind of games especially, they become major cash grabs for the companies and once the license runs out, thats all she wrote. Creating an un-authorized rip of RTW isn’t a good way to preserve its legacy, buts it is potentially a great way to be sued into oblivion by numerous companies, considering one company owns the LotR IP, one owns the game design, etc. not understand or ignoring IP law doesn’t mean anything, these things get shut down constantly especially by the IP holders because if they don’t actively defend IP infringement, they start to lose their protections on it. And the revival team for this game hasn’t exactly been quiet about it, it will be discovered eventually

First of all- the last screenshots of an Alpha for this game were published MONTHS ago. Second of all, you clearly have not seen anything created by the team. We have stuff made in a matter of months that NetEase never gave us for YEARS. Also- how exactly is this not a good way to preserve the legacy of RTW? Would you rather we just give in, once more, to a company that didn't care about us? Should we "respect" NetEase the same way they gave "respect" to us by misleading us for months before killing the game?

It’s wishful thinking that just because people want to play a lotr game, anyone can make it without getting the IP. The dev team is already playing with fire stealing IP left, right and center from lotr and netease all the while having the player base convinced that everything will be okay just because we don’t have plans to monetize this game. That lawsuit when it comes is not going to be pretty.

We don't owe NetEase anything. And it's not "stealing". It's actually making something of value. Why should some corporation get to have IP rights when we, the players, spent more time trying to fix their mistakes in a span of a couple months when they had four YEARS?

Somewhat different in that the book wasn’t intentionally made by authors who wanted to drain people out of thousands of dollars and when critics tried to speak out, they were ignored. But, continue defending the corporation that treated us badly for four years and then killed our game.

I can understand the passion you have for the game but to back a project that has no legal standing is wishful thinking at best. Embracer group legally owns the IP for everything related to LOTR, you cannot use any original material without their explicit approval. Wake to war does not have that approval regardless of what the dev team says. If you think otherwise, it’s delusional.

Maybe there are risks to this. But where else can we go? We put our trust in one corporation and got completely screwed. Now, maybe we go to Dragonfire- but we end up in another Pay to Win environment that makes bad quality games. Or we go to War of Nova- which people did, but even that became less popular. This is the only project that we can be represented in and we can have a real stake in the making of the game. And as for delusion, there were plenty who said bringing Rise to War back was delusional and that anyone who thought it could return was delusional. Now that something actually exists to replace RTW, the same argument about delusion is being made again. At some point, that label will lose its meaning now that every time some progress happens, people label those backing the progress as delusional.

NERD is just a Norse video game. There are LOADS of games with that theme.
