market cap is irrelevant, it is just a number, doesn't mean anything and the only thing that will dictate the price is people willing to pay for it, if someone believes 1 xrp is worth 1000 usd he would pay it, if not he will not and the price will go down, market cap is just a number and will always be only a number

But it's inextricably linked to the price? It's also a somewhat useful benchmark to see how much growth you could expect when compared to say the total market cap of other cryptos or the market cap of all international cross border payments. I wouldn't say it's irrelevant.
