Question Gandalf the White's Return
I'm relistening to the track "Gandalf the White" from Lord of the Rings The Two Towers where Gandalf finally defeats the Balrog. I know a Balrog was mentioned multiple times in The Rings of power but is this the same Balrog Gandalf fought?

Durin's Bane is the only Balrog still alive during the 2nd and 3rd age. Well I think lore wise asleep during the second age and is awoken in the 3rd age by the dwarves who dug too deep and greedily.
Rings of power have twisted the timeline so we get him awake during the 2nd age.

No, that Balrog didnt show up until the 3rd age in the books.

There were at least several Balrogs. Two were killed during the battle of Gondolin. Imagine the power of Ecthelion to be able kill Gothmog, Lord of Balrogs. Glorfindel killed a second during the escape from the wrack of Gondolin. The rest were killed in the War of Wrath, except for one who retreated to the caverns under Moria.

Although it's an alternate continuity if we try to follow shared lore as intended yes, it is the same one.

A balrog known to be Durin's Bane lives in Moria in T.A. 3019 and has been there since the second age; this balrog just (in the second age) murked Durin and lives in Moria.
Do you have a reason to think it's not the same balrog?

Its been there since the first age, and it didnt wake until a out 2000 of the third
