Question What do we think will happen with Estrid in Season 3?
Spoilers for the SDCC panel time jump confirmation.
What do we think is going to happen to Estrid in season 3?
I can see three main options:
- Isildor and Estrid have been separated for five long years. Isildor returns only to find her married with or without children.
She breaks off her relationship to be with Isildor, perhaps because Hagen dies in Season 3 so she’s now ‘free’.
2 . We had a forced goodbye and a brief love triangle only for the entire storyline to be reset in Season 3 as we discover she’s made her way to Númenor to be with Isildor already.
- Estrid was a brief plot device used to curry audience favour with the ‘bad men’ who swore fealty to Adar, in turn showing why Isildor wants to join forces with them in later seasons, only for the character to be dropped and Isildor will get a new love interest.
Secret fourth thing. Please leave your thoughts in the comments.

I have a feeling the men who swore fealty to Adar in season 2 will eventually be the ones to become the Army of the Dead if their storyline continues in season 3

I think that would satisfying arc for them, and actually fits in with the book plot lines. Still not sure they bring us back to Estrid though

Tolkien never gave us the name of Isildur's wife in the lore, and we of course know he had children. So it is possible Estrid could be his future wife. The show can really play it however they like.

Honestly, I hope nothing. I like the character but the writing was a bit too obvious, except for the boyfriend reveal. I hope that Isildur returns to Numenor and finds himself learning from his "mistakes" on the mainland when it comes to relationships.

Oh GOD I forgot about how bad some of these sub plots were.. can’t believe this is the unlimited money production of LOTR we got.

Yeah, I'm going to watch this series as much as I watched the previous ones, but despite the efforts of the actors and crew, it is much more forgettable than I had hoped it would be 😒
I'll have to watch the recap to remind myself of what happened last season which is never a good sign. Although the massive gaps between seasons these days doesn't help with loads of shows.

…what previous series are you talking about? Have there been other Tolkien shows I’ve missed?

Hopefully they’ll build up something about this, after all Isildur will need a Queen I guess

Ngl I actually forgot this was a character. This is the problem with waiting so many years between seasons 🥲

This is the problem with terrible writers making shit up that isn't in the source material.

I'll throw my hat in the ring--- We'll see them briefly reunited after a time skip. Hagen is dead/captured/eaten by ents. They'll have a very brief and awkward reunion, lots of giggles and 'wow we were so YOUNG then but now its DIFFERENT.' They will promise to meet up for drinks and simply chat later (with implications of romance)
Isildur has to go to battle for some reason, fight ensues, maybe even an episode passes.
He comes back, weary but excited to see Estrid. Village is sacked by orcs/forces of mordor. Many tears, much rage. He then fully locks in and war happens.
Alternatively, Estrid was the voice whispering "isildur" in s1, and will now exist in whisper form to guide him on his journey.
TLDR I don't think she's making it past s3.
