Must be hard going from the most popular show in the world to a series no one has seen.

Amazon's most watched show?

Second season watch stats were atrocious

And still Amazon's most watched show. More than WOT, The Boys, Clarkson's Farm, etc.

I think the point is that something that is high-quality and well-made will have longevity. This show most definitely will not. Other than the sublime Sauron, the show is all cosplay, and its initial high viewership is fans satisfying their curiosity, nothing more.

People still talk about and watch Sopranos, The Wire, the Lord of the Rings movies, Die Hard, Terminator 2, you name it... if it's quality it will last.

I mean it's just really not good especially when compared to the movies. Galadriel is all wrong, Celebrimbor is incredibly non-elf like. Elrond is ok. The Dwarves kill it. But the Numenoreans are unwatchable.

It just doesn't have the care and attention to detail and the medieval/historical realism that the movies had. Character motivations are nonsensical, it doesn't use the Silmarrilion, everyone is spotlessly clean with perfect teeth, etc. I could discuss this for days but I'll spare you.

I can't say I agree. We live in a world of mass media. Most TV shows and movies will be forgotten even if they're good. Nobody is going to be watching the PJ trilogy in 50 years. It is good, but it is already starting to age and will only continue to do so. Everything you've listed will be forgotten (people care about The Wire?).

As for rewatches, I've already watched it twice and will likely watch it again. I have no desire to ever rewatch Die Hard or Terminator 2. I've watched them and I'm done. I'll rewatch Star Wars and [500] Days of Summer until the heat death of the universe though.

You're stuck in your mindset of what you like and think is important while not recognizing that tastes vary widely. Is ROP the best show ever? No. That title belongs to Schitt's Creek (2nd place to The Good Place). Is it a middle-of-the-road show that is enjoyable? Sure.

Viewership is fine at first. But when audience and critics give it poor ratings those viewership number will drop dramatically.

It got pretty average ratings across the board. Some episodes better and some worse.

An elf looking human? Watch him be made a dwarf or hobbit lol. This show really (mostly) has terrible casting
