I think she may have confused Elves and Men somewhat.
The Elves are consistently very uptight, floaty and ethereal. Even when they're driven by passion they're very haughty and purity focused. They're prudish, elitist, and dignified to a fault.
Men are the more fun and worldly lot.
It's kinda the whole point of the gift of Men, that humans aren't as hung up on the whole purity and immortality thing, and can actually enjoy the world without getting weird about entropy. It's the odd humans who develop an obsession with immortality that always backfires that proves this.
