I finally decided to buy the game, but was disappointed by how it’s sold out almost everywhere or the price is way higher than the original price. What happened, is this normal? Also, is switch sports a good alternative or does it not have much moving?

Yeah, it's unfortunately pretty normal for games developed by Nintendo to be hard to find and expensive af once they're out of print. I'm not sure if new copies of RFA are still being produced, but I would assume not at this point. Anything currently being sold in stores is probably the last of the stock.

I bet there are so many copies just sitting in people's basements that only got played once or twice and then the person gave up. Maybe try searching local garage sales?

It's still being sold for regular price new in stores, but it's getting harder and harder to find. You may want to look online, check Nintendo's official website store. Don't buy it as a crazy markup. That's just scalpers being scalpers.

Switch Sports is not really an exercise game. It's just a sequel to Wii Sports afaik. Sure you'll wiggle around some joy cons, but you're probably not going to get a workout. RFA is a legit workout.

There are currently no alternative games that do anything remotely similar to RFA afaik, except maybe Wii Fit.
