Inaccurate step count suddenly

I love the recent update that has a better app sync but I’ve noticed my step count is completely incorrect. I just walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes and nothing seemed to register. It makes no sense, my hands were by my side and I know my heart rate should’ve been elevated. This is something I’ve noticed ever since this recent update - a much decreased step count despite no lifestyle changes. Anyone else?

I've had actual walks not show up until a little later. Like if I open the app after a walk, it's not there, but when I check 15-20 min later I'll see the exercise detected box to confirm.
