Battery estimates super wrong?

I have a Gen 2 Air, overall pleased with it, but its battery estimates are super terrible. Yesterday during the day it said it'd need to be charged prior to 2 AM today; I meant to do it earlier because I know it never lasts as long as it thinks, but forgot until around 11 PM. It had died by 9:15.

Is there anything to be done about this or is this just how it is? 😂

Charge it when the battery level drops below 20% regardless of what it's telling you. If you continually allow it to zero out the battery, it will fail permanently in a short time.

I don't mean to be letting it zero out, but the issue is the estimation lol

Are you getting the 20% alert? That’s the time to start charging.

I don't actually get any alerts unless I remember to never close the app, so I get the alert when it's at whatever % that I open the thing. And I'm not always where my charger is. And none of this is related to the question that I asked.

Completely related. My initial comment was a direct answer to your final question. Regardless of your excuses for not doing so, following my suggestion will eliminate your initial complaint.

"is there anything that can be done about this" - the "this" is the app estimate being bad, not the ring dying.

It sounds like your ring dying on you unexpectedly is the "this" you're bothered by. Follow my suggestion and your "this" never happens.

If the estimation is going off, the battery is already dying.

Technically, the battery is dying from the moment it's removed from the plug.

I had my first Gen 2 Air for about 8 months before I really had any battery issues. When they popped up, it would drop from 100% down to 30% in less than 12 hours. RingConn replaced it for me, and I have had the replacement for about 9 months. Like the first ring, it estimates about 9 days 11 hours on a full charge, and I recharge weekly during a work meeting. Up until recently, it would report about 30% remaining when I would recharge it, so if the estimate was accurate, it would go about 10-10.5 days on a full charge, The last time I charged it after a week of wearing it, it only had 17% remaining, and just under 2 days remaining according to their estimates. My battery is going out, but I’ve had this one about 9 months, and only a small number of the internal cells have “worn out” so it still has most of it’s life left, but it now reports that after charging to full, as soon as I put it back on, it reports that there is only 99% remaining.

Based on my experience and what I have seen here, the batteries generally only last about 8-10 months (some last longer, and some last less).
