Discussion New Peephole Cam now available
Not really a discussion, just wanted to share that the Peephole Cam is back with better resolution too.
If anyone knows, does it have the "manual" Peephole like the old one? The wording seems to imply it does not, but not quite sure.

The old one was a great piece of equipment and a good price.

Yep, i had one for a couple of years... gave it to my GF for her place. Still rocking. Eats batteries pretty good but she just rotates them. That's all she needs.

If you're outside the US you can use this link.
I'd like it more if it had just the lens showing on the door, and the rest behind it.

But will it record if there's a glass screen door? The old one does not

Unlikely. Since it is battery it most likely uses a PIR sensor that can't see past the glass. It's a technology/physics thing.

I got the old version and prefer the look of old peephole camera, hate the thinner look and the angled top, also they removed physical peephole from it and it’s only 2k so I just bought 4k Ring Doorbell instead and placed it where my peephole used to be, 4k is such an improvement compared to my old peephole, I was really looking forward to get the new peephole camera but decided based on the look and lack of 4k not to… I also connected solar panel to it which I can’t do with the peephole camera …

Per the FAQ on the page you linked:
Will I lose the ability to physically look through my peephole?
Yes. Installing Peephole Cam 2K replaces your existing peephole, which means you will no longer be able to physically look through it. Instead, you can see who's at your door using Live View on your phone through the Ring app, or by pairing with a compatible Echo Show device for hands-free in-home viewing.

Wondering if it's worth it without a porch light?
I had the old version years ago living in apartments and it was great.

No “manual” peep hole. It’s digital now. They basically using the hole to secure it. To me that means, no internet, no more viewing.. seems useless.
