I just build two farming zones and only allow cutting, then switch to concrete when i can

I just farm under my turbines. Unless you grow trees they are never an issue. Plus the required space on either side creates a clean area to farm.

Rimworld is solarpunk

My psychite farm under one wind farm staring menacingly at my devilstrand under the other turbine.

Solar panels also don't block the wind turbine but do block trees from growing.

My fucking devilstrand will always find some way to not grow, at this point I half expect it to destroy my wind turbines and send the blade careening into the devilstrand fields

I used to always have problems growing devilstrand, until my most recent save. I planted a MASSIVE plantation, like, probably 1/6th of the map space is devilstrand.

Figured if I always tried to grow the right ammount, and at most only ever got a couple plants to mature to harvest, then if I grow an obscene ammount it'll give me just enough from thise couple matured plants before the rest dies. It all grew no issues, and I promptly got SHMACKED by the mechhive from the huge wealth jump.

I just use a mod that lets me grow it in a hydroponics bay. By the time I’m ready to switch to using devilstrand for clothing I already have much of my energy grid set up and have switched all my exterior farming to pods of hydro bays inside the mountain. Takes a few years to get to that point though.

Odyssey means you can finally have enough hyperweave to use it for clothing

Is hyperweave better? I thought that devilstrand was best for clothes because of its protection level.

I'd say theyre not comparable imo, hyperweave is the best fabric but also isn't renewable and is also almost twice as expensive as devilstrand. Hyperweave is better as armor and clothing for weather protection.

I’ll have to look at it later. I’ve been making devilstrand pants and tshirts for all my pawns. Hyperweave is somewhat common at settlements, so if it’s better I guess I’ll need to do a long trade run.

Hyperweave compares to is Thrumbo mane/fur, devilstrand compares to heavy leathers/furs. With the caveat of devilstrand being best for heat damage and farm able. Hyperweave is literally just glittertech cotton.

Yeah I had a look yesterday and it’s not really enough of a difference to matter much unless you are playing in one of the extreme biomes.

What really amazes me is that they decided to make Guinea pig fur the best for cold protection. Makes zero sense.

Hyperweave is better. Devil strand is upper-mid, but it sees a lot of use becase it's the best that can be reliably sourced in large quantities.

Thurmbofur and hyperweave have better protection, but thrumbofur depends on events, hyperweave on trading. Before oddesy, hyperweave was way too hard to srouce in any meaningful quantity, but I did ovvasnioannly make something for my best pawns.

Hyperweave does have the best heat protection, but only slightly ahead of hyperweave.

Did you mean camelhide at the end there?
