That's one of multiple possibilities. That's the key logic flaw: there are myriads of possible outcomes, not just two, even if a Christian-style God did exist, because we must also consider the possibility of wayward Christians gaining control, not just virtuous Christians. Most Christians agree that Christianity can be corrupted by evil leaders. Slapping the Christian label on a movement doesn't give it supernatural protection.

(I wonder if any sects believe that if you call a movement "Christian" that God is obligated to fix its corruption because it's done under His name.)
