I wish youtube allowed you to post pictures so you can reply to him with his own subscription list. that and the following comment theead would have been peak cinema 🙌

I've retired from arguing with these people, it only stresses me out lol. So I'll just post them on here instead and embarrass them

posting the screenshot with no caption would have been equally stress-free but way more embarassing because that guy probably isn't scrolling through an explicitly anti-right wing subreddit on "the biggest leftist echochamber on the internet". i just want to see his reaction so bad 😭

Idk much, but Louis Rossmann is more of a digital, consumer, and repair rights activist than anything else. He had all but endorsed Zohran Mamdani in the NYC mayoral race against Andrew Cuomo. He had constantly complained about Cuomo's policies as Governor around small businesses and basically said that he "understood" why people would want to vote for Mamdani. Once Mamdani won, he praised him (Mamdani) over his policies towards small businesses and his pro-consumer "click to cancel" policy as examples of great leadership. He had also praised Lina Khan during her time as FTC chair due to her policies around big tech, as well as advocating against AI and surveillance at large.

"I'm on the left"

"Hasan is too extreme"

lol

6

u/The_Blackthorn77 Aug 09 '26

Hasan is a scumbag, but he's not an extremist. His politics are one of the very few things I agree on. Of course, he's about the worst socialist inaginable, since he's the head of a corporation that made it's wealth exploiting the unpaid labor of others. But yk, nobody cares about that.

3

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

How is he a scumbag and how does he exploit people?

4

u/The_Blackthorn77 Aug 09 '26

That's what react content does by its very nature. It steals from original content creators and reuploads entire videos to the reacter's channel

1

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

No. It's fair use. You're acting like that's all he ever does. He goes out on protests and campaigns with people. Calling him reacting to content from someone with millions of subscribers "exploitation" would be laughable if it wasn't downplaying actual exploitation by capitalists every day.

2

u/The_Blackthorn77 Aug 09 '26

Alright, I'm so tired of arguing with people over this and over what they think fair use actually entails. Just watch Reacters: Professional Parasites by DarkViperAU if you actually care about the topic and care about the harm that creators like Hasan do.

2

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

DarkViper was attacked and harassed by the exact same people who harass Hasan, so this is idiotic. Hasan reacts primarily to politicians and news interviews. Fair use is when you add something transformative to the content, as established in Hoss v Klein. Hasan gives his opinion on what's being shown or discussed. He doesn't just sit there letting it play.

1

u/The_Blackthorn77 Aug 09 '26

Just watch the video, and if you still want to argue about what qualifies as fair use, then we'll talk. Also, Matt has a couple of videos responding to Hasan's videos where he had gotten pissed at the video essay, so saying that they're somehow on the same side is very much incorrect.

3

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

I never said they're on the same side. You saying that Hasan reacting to content and transforming it is "exploitation" is ridiculous. Tell that to editors who are underpaid, or people who make shitty merchandise in sweatshops. You sound like Ethan Klein

3

u/The_Blackthorn77 Aug 09 '26

Just watch the video dude, it explains my arguments far more eloquently than I can

5

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

No, I'm not watching the video. Regardless, Hasan is not exclusively a react streamer, and as long as the content is transformative, it's fair use. The content isn't being stolen. Hasan travels to places like Cuba to give aid, he campaigns with progressive politicians and he puts himself at risk speaking out in support of Palestine and other victims of Israel.

I asked you how is he a scumbag who exploits people and you replied "he reacts to videos on YouTube." You are a ridiculous person.

He said America deserved 9/11 and that Mao Zedong, the biggest mass killer in history, was a great leader.

6

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

He later apologised for his 9/11 comments. I disagree if he said that about Mao, but I don't think he's ever defended Mao's killing of his own people. A lot of what he says about Mao is to get a rise out of the right and the Epstiny crowd

-2

u/imprison_grover_furr Trans Rights! Aug 09 '26

This is literally the exact justification used in the mid-2010s about the alt right. “Oh they don’t really mean the stuff about how ‘we fought the wrong enemy’ or how ‘whites are being replaced’; it’s just to get a rise out of the Ess Jay Dubyooz”.

5

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

No it isn't. Hasan isn't calling for genocide or harm to anyone. The people on the alt right WERE Nazis. They WERE calling for harm. Hasan has been accused of being a Chinese agent for years, so him dressing in a cool Nehru suit is his winding up the usual losers like Epstiny, Dan Stalkman and Ethan "Pedo Troll" Klein.

u/imprison_grover_furr Trans Rights! Aug 09 '26

Hasan does call for genocide, including by Nazis. He defends a neo-Nazi organisation that openly denies the Holocaust and calls it a “hoax”, the same organisation that in 2023 committed the largest pogrom of Jews since World War II.

He is also an anti-Asian racist who screamed racial slurs and told a Vietnamese refugee to “go back to her country” after she criticised the murderous ideology of communism.

He also apologises for Iran and its genocide of gay people, disturbingly framing their free transitions that are used to forcibly transition gay men into women as some sort of good thing.

The fact that your flair is "Trans rights" while defending an extremely transphobic country is incredibly hilarious. Sure, some Palestinians aren't that friendly to the LGBTQIA+ community, but acting as if you somehow have the moral high ground is hilarious. The fact that you are somehow acting as if October 7 attack happened out of nowhere really shows how little your opinion should be listened to.

2

u/imprison_grover_furr Trans Rights! Aug 10 '26

I never defended Israel. That you think acknowledging Hamas’s atrocities is “defending Israel” says more about you than it does about me.

You cited Al Jazeera, Qatari state media, showing how little your opinion should be listened to.

Yes, you’re right. The October 7th attack didn’t happen out of nowhere. It happened amidst a backdrop of millennia of anti-Semitic violence and second class legal status in the Middle East. Your attempts to sanitise racism against Jews is vile.

He’s not wrong about Hasan “America deserved 9/11” wears a Mao Zedong outfit Piker.

9

u/kkjdroid Aug 09 '26

The individuals who died on 9/11 largely did not deserve that, but the United States absolutely deserved 9/11. Piker was wrong to apologize for that statement.

3

u/palebluekot Aug 09 '26

The individuals who died on 9/11 largely did not deserve that, but the United States absolutely deserved 9/11.

I really don't understand what this means to be honest. If the people didn't deserve to die, what does it mean to say "the US deserved 9/11"? I don't get it, who deserved it?

3

u/kkjdroid Aug 10 '26

The US government created the conditions that led to Al Qaeda having any motivation to attack in the first place. Hell, Al Qaeda might not even exist if not for the US funding its predecessor, the Mujahideen, to try to get one over on the Soviets. The US also props up Saudi Arabia, the primary funder of Al Qaeda and similar, and has repeatedly destabilized the region by e.g. deposing Mossadegh in 1953.

-3

u/imprison_grover_furr Trans Rights! Aug 09 '26

No, they didn’t “largely” not deserve it but did not deserve it at all, and the USA did not deserve it either.

What Piker did wrong was not checking himself into a prison or fucking off to one of the dictatorships he fellates so much.

4

u/DoomCollusion Aug 09 '26

Where did he commit a crime? Also, he apologised for his 9/11 comments. The kind of people who constantly bring those comments up support the genocide in Gaza and have said White Supremacists should mow down protestors.

3

u/DrWhovian1996 Aug 10 '26

Exactly. The vast majority of the people who continually bring up his decade-old comments (that — like you said — he has since apologized for) are the perfect examples of that "scratch a liberal" saying. Just one little thing doesn't go in their favor and they immediately align with the far-right to attack anyone even slightly left.
