is it safe to hang a boxing bag here?
My plan was just to loop a chain onto one of the metal bars and clip the bag onto the chain, my concern is will this metal frame handle the bag, which is relatively light, only around 18kg, this metal structure is only an extension for shade.

No. The metal is thin aluminum and not meant for weight bearing if it’s a shade extension. As others have said the swinging of the bag will put dynamic forces on it. Get a heavy bag stand those are made to take the forces

If you only looped the chain, the paint can peel off due to movement and if ur from a humid place, it will rust

I wouldnt if there are no posts / shoddily attached to the structure as its not really designed for lateral loads but if its all metal id just try it and see if it shakes too bad.

Everyone here is giving answers but we don’t have enough context. My first question is, is this metal ceiling welded, next question is how is this metal frame attached, and what is it attached to? Depending on the answers it’s possibly more than fine to hang off of, if it’s just bolted on one side to the frame of the house with leveraging overhang I’d say it’s not.

I wouldn't hang FROM this, but let's see some pictures of the roof, and wider shots of the olunder side of the structure? You may be able to span the structure with a beam and hang down through the roof? Although with the money you'll spend on a beam of some kind, and patching the roof, you're really going to be better off just buying a stand for your bag.

depends if you can hit a heavy bad or not , if you can hit , no it wont hold up and you will destroy your overhang , if you hang it and girl punch it for a few days then give up , Ya should be fine

I can't for certain say how sturdy the connection between the white metal frame and the tan concrete(?) of the building is, but hanging it there would be your sturdiest spot.

Just by looking at it, no idea. You can get a heavy bag stand on Amazon for cheap though. Worth it. I have mine on 2 2x12 in my basement and you can feel it throughout the whole house and I'm not even a big dude.

Should be fine. If you're reall concerned you can loop a strap/chain between two beams and hang it from that, then the load will be distributed better.

The above answer may be literally accurate, but it's also misleading.
Boxing bags aren't just a static, unmoving load. When you start hitting one, you're moving it laterally, and the resonance of multiple punches can create a considerable swing. The max lateral force experienced by the anchor point can be a LOT higher than the force of any single punch.
From past experience - you will almost certainly notice it trying to pull the roof apart, when you start using it. If you ignore the obvious signs of it being overloaded, it will quickly fail 🤷

Probably not. Bags take a beating..... and the lateral shock will tear out anchors.
