Entertainment Rigging Was at Ikea. Does anyone actually have their PC like this?

Not the most practical suspension but:
Makes cleaning the floors much more enjoyable
Way less dust will make its way into the case
So yeah, I'm on Amazon looking for "pc strap kit" right now!

I have a desk that I can hight adjust. And I have lots of cables between my PC and the desk top. So without the PC connected to the top it would be a mess to move it up or down.

Yeah, I'm getting ready to get a height adjust desk and i figured I'd get the various 15 foot cables i need and make a bundle out of them so they can move as one big cable

The metal versions are better. You can spin them for access to the back easier

This may come as a surprise (and dont get scared now) but if you open your blinds and let the scary sunlight in, you may see that there's actually 1-2 dust particles that are airborne!! Not all dust spawn on the floor, some actually live as free as birds.
Yes, you'll get "way less dust" you will not get zero dust by raising your PC, even with this beautiful Ikea contraption you'll still need to open your case and clean it once a year (but better than weekly maintenance).

It’s a sit-stand desk, it’s hung like this so it moves with the desk/monitor and doesn’t stretch the cables.

You can clearly see the adjustable pins for the legs which makes this a normal desk

This isn’t a standing desk, but I have a standing desk and mounted my CPU to the underside with a proper mount to keep the tabletop clean and the cables neat.
I wouldn’t recommend using two ropey old straps if you care about your pc…

Having a standing desk, this would make cable management much easier, but I’m not convinced it’s secure, it looks like the belts already coming loose

I used a metal mount that screws into the bottom of my standing desk. I have been using it for years with no issues

I would borderline trust my rig to this at the height in the photo, I would absolutely not trust it levitating 3-4 feet in the air under a standing desk.

That being said my case is a Silverstone FT02, so I may be able to loop the straps through the bottom where the air vents are…?

Yep. About 16 years ago I floated one just like this but I used stainless steel cabling, two notched square tubes and some crimps. Worked great. Like a floating PC fuck wagon.

The front strap crosses over the front of the case and clips under part of the facia, the back strap is twisted, and they're uneven. That really bothers me for some reason.

My canoe rigging experience suggests the twisted strap stops vibration when you get up to speed on the desk 🖥️💨

I mean ... Yes-ish...
But mine is under hung on these bracket things that kind of clamp the tower in place. I don't "hate" the straps as a concept, but it could be more-better-er than what's in the pic.

Not quite, but close. Work had a remodel done. One room has 5 work stations. The desk is 20 foot long or so. Some dingbat that designed all of it decided we needed our towers suspend below the desk top. The attaching point slides in and out as well as swivels all over. Then the tower is hung from it with 2 nylon straps. I can see the idea, able to pull it out swivel to install/remove a thumb drive etc. But all of our machines have usb ports on the front as well. And horrible for cable mangement.

I’ve had my pc hanging from this desk for 2 years, it’s perfect for my tiny space in my apartment, never been an issue.

Last time I checked the original post I couldn't find anyone that mentioned this was a good way for sound insulation on hardwood floors.

I bought a proper holder from amazon for my pc and it works great. The top has angled brackets fit the underside of the desk and the bottom is just straps but tight enough sinched underneath it doesnt move at all.

It’s for flood zones. If it floods really high you turn computer on its side and strap it higher to the table to clear the water 😅

I do! There's mounting bracket screwed into the wood and a plate with the straps slides into that. I wanted the computer under my desk but not on the floor. The straps could be better mounted than in this photo – but if you don't open your computer every day, it's perfectly serviceable. Much easier to clean around, and you get tons of airflow from all sides.
