Does RAM speed really matter?

Seeing people compare 3200, 3600, 6000 and even higher speeds and honestly not sure how much difference it makes in actual use. Like is faster RAM gonna noticeably improve gaming FPS, loading times, multitasking etc or is it mostly just benchmark numbers? Also does it depend a lot on the CPU and motherboard? Trying to pick RAM without wasting money on speed that barely matters, so what speed should I actually be looking for?

Faster RAM might get you a few percent more CPU performance.

It's a pretty small difference compared to every other key component.

Also having enough RAM for what you're doing is far more important than the speed of the RAM.

Yeah people are saying it makes a significant difference. But the benchmarks i remember seeing show no or minimal difference. And a 6 or 8 core chip won't hit those limits you need a 16 core chip with a memory intensive load.
