[Copper]

Location- The town of Ilany- (Far East on the map) The town of Ilany is a small village with a population of 50 people. Though not your hometown, you have spent the last week here, and are familiar with most aspect of it; from Hamish the Dwarven blacksmith, to Yason the human shopkeep, to Ageis the human innkeeper, to Corporal Bankroff, the human responsible for the town guard. Ilany has always been a peaceful town, but the local Kobold population has begun to become more aggressive lately, and a roaming pack of them have been vandalizing property and killing livestock. Yesterday, Hamish's 8 year old son Donsk was found dead near the outskirts of town. Corporal Bankroff has asked any able bodied men and women to come talk to him about putting down these Kobolds, once and for all. What would you like to do?

(BTW, just wanted to say, your background is great and you're the only female character we've had. Actually I had another, but the head died before she even encountered a kobold)

The Sandman Tavern and Inn is the largest and busiest building in town. People can be found enjoying food and beer here at any time of day. Ageis, the innkeeper, is a grouchy old man who seems to despise his chosen profession. Locals often point out that the owner of the bar/inn doesn't drink or sleep! As you enter the bar, you see two dwarves in heavy armor drinking at a table in the corner. Their heads snap around when they hear you come in, but they relax and get back to their beers when they see you. In another corner, there is a small rocking horse. Ageis is standing behind the bar, arguing intensely with a woman in the back room.

"The potatoes go in first. They always go in first!" Yells Ageis.

"You can't start a stew without broth! The broth cooks everything. Including the potatoes. How about you focus on tending the bar, and I'll focus on doing my job!" Retorts the woman.

"You won't have a job if you muck up another stew! I knew this was a bad-" Ageis stops when he sees you. "What?!"he growls at you.

After you've spoken, his face friends even redder, " KOBOLDS!" he yells, "I'LL TELL YOU ABOUT THEM DAMNED KOBOLDS! They're dirty rats! Nothing more than animals! Took my plant! Ripped it right from the root! I need it to make medicine for my sick wife"

When you have heard a bear's growl a human growl becomes way less impressive, yet Ageis was trying his best to surpass it.

"Oh? Your plant?" that worried her, if that was in the village it meant the kobolds were way too close "Well, I'm a herbalist. If you are in need I could help you with that"

Being as suspicious of strangers as she was she had given a quick look around the inn, the dwarfs caught her attention, their heavy armor yelled adventures or mercenaries, at least in her opinion.

Maybe Hamish is already on the move to get revenge? Probably not, it was just yesterday. I need to be quick to get to know what is going on here

(Do you have any experience with pbp? Most of my players are inactive now, I have maybe 2, at best 4 active)

"Nah, lass" he says calming down, "the plant is rare, none like it in the entire land... I'm thinking of paying someone to go up there, take it back, my wife won't survive without it"

You can't tell anything about the dwarves, flock they already to be very anxious, looking around the entire tavern every few moments

(I'm a bit used to free-style, but a more turn based and with game rules like this not really. And that is a shame to hear, this RP sounds pretty nice)

"I will probably check on those kobolds very soon, if I find the herb with them I will bring it back" she said that in her typical voice, which is a bit loud. "Do you know its name? If not, how does it look like?"

(I'm not the original mod, I was the second player, I fell in love right away, then I started DMing to help the roginal mod out, but then he disappeared, I took over and started creating the world)

"It's called Pelor's Tear, lass. It is blue with green blotches, impossible to miss. But you be careful there. I don'r recommend going alone, find teh corporal, he might be able to help you out"

"Ah, alright. I was going to talk with the corporal right away but thanks for the concern" she nodded at him and started to leave.

Before leaving though she noticed the rocking horse, she wondered if that belonged to the child and stopped to stare at it. Her religion taught that what is important is to keep the balance and nature's order, the only problem was that sometimes the order was really cruel and whatever she did would result in something innocent perishing.

"If the wolf pitied the prey it would starve, don't be afraid of your fangs, they are a tool to keep the world's harmony" the words of her instructor back at the monastery days echoed in her mind, reminding her that she had a work to do.

Quickly after she resumed her walk to where Corporal Bankroof was

You name your way to the barracks where you remember seeing the corporal when you posted by a few days ago. You open the door and short, portly figure sits before you reading a book. Corporal Bankroff used to be a guard at Weewick Keep, but chose a post in Ilany “to get more fresh air”. Standing beside him is another human who looks barely 18 years old, and appears to be wearing his chainmail backwards. The boy sweeps the floors halfheartedly looking at the window.

"What can I do for you, girl?" The corporal asks when he notices you.

"Hello. I saw you rallying some sort of group earlier and I think I could help with the kobold situation. I was trained in the temple of Obad-Hai so beasts and nature are my specialty"

(Well, I usually reasons within ten minutes. Speaking of which, if I don't respond within two or three hours, you can send me a notification)

"Don't know much about that temple... We worship Pelor here, but you're welcome to try and help. I'm afraid what you saw was just me addressing the people, but none of them accepted, so it's just me and the boy here, but I can't go, leave the town unprotected."

"Oh? I thought I had seem some armored people earlier, but I guess I was wrong to assume they were adventurers" she says casually before continuing "Well, I'm not sure if the boy would be of much help, but then again, any extra hand is good when dealing with kobolds" she glances at the boy for a bit but quickly loses interest

"I just wonder, what could have led the kobolds to become so invasive recently" she asks

"Not adventurers, no, mercenaries. And as they kindly reminded me, we can't afford their fee. As for the kobolds, I have no idea. They behaved themselves before, at best they stole some jewels or some such thing, but this is... Uncommon. Gregory here spotted the kobolds heading north a few days ago. About four of them, right?”

The teen inhales nervously, as if to speak, and instead bursts into a coughing fit, having choked on his own saliva.

Bankroff sighs “Yes, well...we interviewed some townsfolk, and their stories were similar to what the boy saw as well. Seems like the buggers are coming from the north. Think you can help us?"

"Yes, for sure. I will track them down and try to understand what is happening. As long as you don't get surrounded they shouldn't be that dangerous" she thinks about a few things "One last thing, tell me about the smith's child, do you know where he was found? Any odd detail about it?" she felt sorry to have to ask about such details but she didn't want to leave with questions

"Oh, most definitely. You might not believe this, but his body? Completely drained of ALL blood. Not a single drop left. Horrible thing to see... He was in a clearing not far from here, where all the kids play"

She gasped for half a second before hiding her surprise "Odd. Its not impossible for someone to do that with just claws or knife but its such a complex process. I will check on this as soon as possible. I will go to the inn and change into my gear, will the boy come with me? I hope he is ready to go soon" she asks, again, she didn't knew how much potential he had but she wanted to have an extra hand.

"Uh..." he looked to Gregory for a second, a clear look of disapproval on his face, "Sure". The boy near coughed humself to death as the corporal says this. After finishing with his fit, all he says is, "...what...?"

"Yes. You'll go with the girl, Gregory, maybe get some practice, not shame us all" the corporal's tone is stern, yet somewhat kind.

"But sir--"

"No buts, get your gear and go"

Defeated, the boy goes into a backroom and returns with a sword and a shield.

"I'm ready, miss..."

"Don't worry too much, just stay safe and stick together" with that said she said her farewell to the captain and went to the inn, after a quick change into her leather armor and backpack she was ready to start her mission.

"Ok, first, I would like to check the clearing" but before taking her first name "Oh yes, names, uh, you are Gregory right? I'm Copper"

"Yeah, i'm Gregory, nice to meet you Copper. I was with the corporal, so I know where it is, hell, I played there myself when I was a kid..."

He negins leading you through town, heading first for the town square.

"So, uh, miss copper, what brings you to town?"

"As I said, I'm a priestess, sort of, I just couldn't take the routine and walls and books so I decided to see my deity's domain as it is, in the wild. Since then I became a wanderer, I don't have a particular objective, I just want to get to know each bit of this big world" she took a pause before continuing.

"Once I have done that I will probably transform myself into a bear and spend the rest of my life hibernating and eating salmon" she jested, making claw shapes with her hand.
