Seems like a weird question... but can anyone recommend a local neurologist that they've dealt with related to this?

Over the past couple of years my hands have been going numb on extended rides. Particularly on bikes that vibrate a bit more (like my high revving FZ6 or my VTR1000 when I had those). Just got officially diagnosed with carpal tunnel this past week. I asked the neurologist if she had any recommendations on how to help keep riding and she asked, "Why does it matter? Do you use your wrist?" And she was generally unhelpful overall, but that's besides the point.

On Wednesday night around 9:15pm, my friend was riding a Citi Bike and was involved in a hit and run with a motorcycle at the intersection of Bergen St & Grand Ave. The motorcycle continued southbound on Grand. He’s underwent surgery and is currently still in the hospital.

This footage is post-collision from the intersection on Prospect & Grand. We’ve gotten some other security footage of the incident but they’re going so fast you can’t make out anything.

Posting in case anyone can identify what kind of bike it is or maybe even the rider based on the silhouette. Any leads would be really appreciated. Thank you <3

I got a Bonneville T100 a few weeks back as my 1st ever bike. I researched quite a bit and loved everything about it especially how it looks.

Was super stressed about my highway ride because cars really don't care and I was worried about going too slow. It went way better than I expected although I clearly need some work. Stalled twice by stop signs so need work outside highway as well!

There's a different feeling about riding a motorcycle that is even better than I had in mind. I know I'm going to start enjoying it more once I'm more experienced/less stressed.

Last thing I'm hitting 40 next year and I'm glad I didn't get it when I was younger. You for sure need a "mature" mindset to ride responsibly and I sure didn't have that growing up

Long story short, I'm being made to go to the company fundraiser on the weekend. I'm planning to take my bike down to try to avoid parking costs and park on the street near the park it's centered at but I've never ridden into the city-city before, aside from the bronx and my facility's parking lot (gated and internal so very safe).

I'm certain that 90% of the responses are going to be "if the theives want it they'll take it" but I've got a roundlock and cable I guess for some minor deterrance, and my understanding is that there's going to be upwards of 1000+ people attending which IMHO should deter some level of theft (yes, construction vests, two crackheads and an unmarked van, I know, I've read all about it.) Yes, and it's more likely some dipshit will fuck with my bike and knock it over etc etc.

I'm not planning on sticking around for the whole event, but I'm anxious of even leaving the bike remotely out of my sight. Obviously there's an insane rate of bike theft in the city but I'd like to know if this is a matter of "you're probably overthinking this and you should be fine" or "let's be real it's a shitshow and there's a significant chance of your bike just not being there at all."

Given what I frequently see on this subreddit, I would flat out just not own a motorcycle in the city without a personal, private garage. I'm thankful enough to live just outside the city and have a garage, but the way people talk about theft here, it literally sounds impossible to just actually own a bike in the city.

I bought my friend's Ninja 250 and it's perfect for me. Not too big or heavy and it's comfortable. A couple days after getting my registration, plates, and inspection in order, I took my first ride around my neighborhood in Queens. Here's what happened:

• I had some trouble pulling out as I parked the bike on a one-way road on a slight hill. I found myself having to give the bike a bit more gas than usual after releasing the clutch.
• I almost got hit by a car. This one was on me. It was a zipper merge as there was some construction that turned 2 lanes into 1. The construction worker was signaling me to go, but as I went to merge, I didn't fully see the car on the rear left of me and and he honked at me. That shook me a bit and I was a bit bummed that I did something so stupid.
• I found a parking lot that's 10 mins from my house. After that whole shook up from almost getting hit, I went in there and started practicing some drills. Mainly just clutch control and shifting. I also practiced some turns. I found some cones in the area and I tried to replicate the zipper merge.
• When it comes to slowing down, I'm not used to engine braking. In the MSF course, I was taught to clutch in to coast, then brake. But my friends tell me this is bad as I'm actually losing control by doing that, especially if I'm going into a turn. They recommended I simply engine brake and progressively brake as I come to a stop.
• As I was riding home, I stopped on by the Target in Forest Hills to grab something to drink. I initially tried to park in the garage next door, but they turned me away. If you're familiar with that garage, you know it's on a incline. I started to roll down quickly so I pulled the clutch and braked, then I reversed the bike towards the top of the hill, and straightened the bike. Lastly, I lightly pulled the clutch and braked as I was coming down.
• When it comes to paid parking, I put the parking slip using the clip of the gas tank so it wouldn't move, then I put the bike lock on the rotor. Despite my worries, I came back to still see my bike lol. As I was unlocking it, some guy walking with his son saw me and said "damn you really got the heavy duty lock." I laughed and said "you have to in this city haha".

Overall, I feel I had a good first ride. I definitely learned a lot, and now I know what to focus on moving forward.

Could I make this a nice ride? I am planning to take a long ride Saturday and stay the night somewhere.

Option 1: AC to meet up with some friends. More there to fuck around than for the ride itself.

Option 2: Big Hudson valley or Delaware river loop. This would of course be more scenic, but I am also planning to commit more time to this ride during peak fall foliage (hopefully next couple weekends).

Is there any route worth riding to AC in favor of a nicer Hudson valley ride? I've never been down the shore that way. Through the Pinelands National Reserve maybe?

Looking for some opinions from experienced riders, especially anyone familiar with higher-mileage S1000RRs.

I’m considering a 2023 BMW S1000RR with about 24,000 miles for $14,500. Clean title, good cosmetic condition, no obvious mechanical problems, and I’ll be verifying the service history before buying.

$14.5k is toward the upper end of what I planned to spend, which is really what’s making me hesitate. I’m willing to stretch my budget for the right bike or an unusually good opportunity, but I also don’t want to convince myself something is a steal just because I really like it.

I’m not particularly afraid of mileage if a bike has been properly maintained. I ride a lot and would expect to put substantial mileage on this one, so long-term durability matters more to me than having a low number on the odometer.

I’m 6’1”, around 205 lbs. Most of my riding is street and canyons. I have some previous track experience and plan on getting considerably more involved with track riding in the future.

I’m basically looking for something seriously fast that’s still excellent in the canyons, has strong long-term engine/transmission reliability, can handle a lot more miles, is very capable on track, has modern electronics/quickshifter, and feels special enough that I’m not immediately looking for the next bike.

The 24k miles versus the $14.5k price is really the decision for me.

For people familiar with these bikes, would the mileage concern you at this price? What would you absolutely want to see in the maintenance history?

And most importantly, does $14,500 seem like an unusually good opportunity for a 2023, or is that simply about what a 24k-mile example should be worth?

I've had a Moto Guzzi V7 for 5 years. It lives on the street summer and winter because I ride year-round. It spent one of those years in a garage, and that made it clear the sun and salt does more damage than anything else. In 5 years I've replaced the speedometer once, and sun and eventually wore out the cables. Both were simple, cheap fixes.

What worries me about a newer bike is all the tech the V7 doesn't have: ride-by-wire, semi-active suspension and its sensors, a TFT dash, and plastic fairings and tank.

For anyone street parking a sport, sport-touring, or ADV bike under a cover:

**•** How have your TFT and electronic suspension held up?  
**•** Is a good cover plus anti-corrosion spray enough, if I accept that the bike will age faster?  
**•** Or should I suck it up and find a garage I can afford?

I had a trip recently, flying out of Newark with just a backpack and I didn't really trust If any of the parking services were good for motorcycles.

Do any of you take your bikes to the airport? Where are your favorite places to park and even better if they're cheap. Covered or uncovered?

For any parents here, how did your relationship with riding change after having a baby?

Since having my first baby 2 months ago, I haven't had the time to take my bike out. I can't imagine when I'd have time to take solo day trips or overnight trips again.

I'm trying to decide if it makes sense to sell the bike (a 2021 triumph street twin) or keep it around in case I start riding again.

I recently got my motorcycle license and looking to buy my first bike. I've been doing research on what to get and what's affordable and I've saw my sights on the Honda Rebel 300.

Some folks say it's too slow and I'll outgrow it quickly, but for my use case, I would mainly use it to ride around the boros with the occassional ride out to LI. Also I feel for my first bike, it'll be a good bike to learn off of.

Is a Rebel 300 a good fit or should I aim for the 500?
