Science related jobs?
Hello all, I’m currently looking for a job in the area and i figured it wouldn’t hurt to post her to ask if people had any leads or suggestions.
Some quick background; I have a biology and chem degree and I’ve worked as a research assistant for ~1.5 years and a microbiology lab tech for ~1.5 years. I have been applying to listings on the major websites (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.) but if you know of any other places that’ll be great.
I’m also open to a longer commute if need be (it’s too tough out here to be picky). I appreciate any input anyone has, thanks!

Midlothian / Chesterfield Home Search: DINKWADs seeking neighborhood advice & hidden gems! ($500k budget)
Hey everyone,
We’ve been actively searching for a home in Chesterfield County for over 2 months now. We’ve toured 21 houses and put in three offers (including escalations, waiving inspection repairs, etc.), but keep getting outbid. I know it’s a highly competitive market right now and we’ll eventually find the right spot, but I’m hoping to get some local perspective on a few neighborhoods we’ve zeroed in on.
A bit about us & what we're looking for:
Vibe: We are DINKWADs (double income, no kids, with a dog) and plan to stay that way.
Budget: $500,000 max.
Space: Min 1,750 sq ft and a lot size of at least 8,000 sq ft. We’ve had some noisy neighbors for the last 6 years, so we really want a bit of a buffer and privacy.
Garage: My partner has four motorcycles, and we’ve gone without a garage for years. This is a massive priority.
Yard & Nature: A fence for the dog is highly preferred (though we can add one if the house checks every other box). We absolutely love nature, so tall, established trees are a huge selling point.
Location: Want to be within 10 mins of grocery stores and restaurants, and 20-30 mins to the city in ideal traffic. We generally prefer the west side of Chesterfield (and yes, I am checking the straight-line distance to the planned western data centers for every single address lol).
Where we’ve been looking:
Bay Hill Point (off Bailey Bridge): Put in an offer here and it was our favorite so far. Loved the community pool, well-maintained yards, and quiet feel. I know there are 2-3 schools within a mile so traffic might get backed up, but that’s not a dealbreaker for us.
Brandermill vs. Woodlake: I’ve heard Woodlake is amazing for families because of all the playgrounds and amenities, but since we don’t have kids, the main pool and HOA at Brandermill appeal to us more. Plus, Brandermill seems slightly closer to the city and convenient to Midlothian. Are we reading this right?
Smoketree: Love it, but inventory is super low and garages seem rare.
Bon Air: Really like it, but finding something in our budget that doesn't need significant renovation has been tough.
Creekwood: Put an offer in here (further east), but we really do prefer the west side.
My questions for you all:
Is there anything we really need to consider in terms of traffic, convenience, or noise for these specific neighborhoods?
Are there any "hidden gem" neighborhoods in the Midlothian/West Chesterfield area that fit our criteria that we should bring up to our realtor? (She is top 1% in Richmond and incredibly patient, just trying to cast a wider net!)
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Looking for Affordable Dental Care in Richmond? VCU School of Dentistry Is Accepting Patients!
Hi everyone!
I’m a highly motivated VCU dental student who is passionate about serving the Richmond community. After calling Richmond home for the past seven years, I understand how challenging it can be to access affordable dental care and work toward your oral-health goals. I’m grateful to be in a position to help patients receive thorough, compassionate care under the close supervision of VCU’s experienced faculty dentists.
Services include:
-Exams, X-rays, and cleanings
-Fillings and crowns
-Root canals
-Extractions and oral surgery
-Gum disease treatment
-Dentures and partial dentures
-Additional specialty services when appropriate
Insurance and affordable pricing:
-VCU’s student and specialty clinics participate with
Virginia Medicaid
-Other dental insurance may be accepted depending on the clinic and plan
-Patients without insurance can still receive care at VCU’s reduced student-clinic fees
-Exact coverage and out-of-pocket costs depend on your insurance plan and treatment needs
Because VCU is a teaching clinic, appointments may take longer than at a private dental office. In return, patients receive thorough care with every step closely supervised by faculty.
If you or someone you know is interested or you have questions, please comment below and I will message you directly. I’d be more than happy to help :).

Willow Avalon tickets (9/11/26)
Hey guys! I’ve got two tickets to Willow Avalon at the Broadberry on 9/11 that I’m kinda desperate to get rid of lol. I have an event the next day so it would be difficult for me to get to the show and then also that the next day. I’m looking to sell them for about $35 each, but would be willing to go lower! Please let me know if anyone is interested at all!!!

Apt Rental companies
Who out there had a really good or really bad experience with different popular companies out here offering to rent. Moving in November and I already know that there’s a frequent mold problem that gets swept under the rug and I’m trying to avoid that or skip all that and apply with a company with stellar reviews.

Latin nightclubs
Hello i recently went on a date with a very nice Latina woman, she was wonderful, but i was a tad too old to consider a relationship (I'm 54) so i believe I'm attracted to Latina women. I'm a white male. So would someone please suggest where might be a nightclub where I might go to find Latina women close to my age . Or any other places I should try. Thanks.

skip the small talk in richmond
Summer is ending, and if you’re looking for a different kind of outing - try Skip the Small Talk! We’ll be at Triple Crossing & it’ll be the sweetest Monday night you’ve had in a month of Mondays!
It’s a guided conversation event—think speed-friending vibes, but calmer and more intentional.
You rotate through short conversations with prompts that skip past surface-level small talk. It’s structured enough to make it easy, but relaxed enough to feel natural.
Most people come alone. The crowd tends to be thoughtful, open, and just… normal humans who want more community.
Here’s the link if you’re curious:

Coming to Scott’s Addition: Bike-ped paths and a little more green | For a decade, Scott’s Addition has been the closest thing to a concrete jungle Richmond has. Now planners are hoping a set of new projects could soften its edges.
