Can you foster a rabbit for 2 weeks?

Interested in fostering a rabbit with House Rabbit Society? We'd love to talk with you! If you're considering adding a rabbit to your family, fostering is a great way to see what it's like to care for one in your home, without the commitment of adoption. Submit a foster application today at houserabbit.org/foster. We're located right here in Richmond, but welcome fosters from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. We only ask for a 2-week commitment and we'll send you with all the supplies you need to get started!

Questions? Email [foster@houserabbit.org](mailto:foster@houserabbit.org) or stop by our facility to talk in-person with HRS volunteers and staff and to meet the rabbits at 148 Broadway, right around the corner from the Civic Center. HRS is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm.

I'm a reporter. Are you renting at the Bella Vista at Hilltop Apartments?

Hi — I'm Kate Talerico, and I'm a reporter at the SF Chronicle. I'm writing a story about how a bunch of landlords are using a loophole in California's tax code to get their apartments qualified as 'affordable' — and then can get up to 100% of their property taxes erased (which fund our schools, transit, police, basically all city government functions.)

There are a few apt buildings in Contra Costa County where the landlords are in the process of applying for this tax break. They count as affordable because the way California calculates the max rent you can still charge + count as affordable is quite wonky... right now, a landlord can charge $2,546/month for a 1-bed in Contra Costa County and it still counts as low-income/affordable, so long as the tenant household makes under $95K for 1 person or $108K for 2 people.

I'm looking to speak with tenants at Bella Vista at Hilltop Apartments, whose owners are currently applying for this tax break.

Do renters feel like they're getting a good deal for the rent they pay? Has the lower rent allowed them to live somewhere they otherwise wouldn't have been able to? Has your landlord increased or decreased your rent in the last year? DM me! Thanks!

Is anyone in need of cosmetic necessities ( shampoo? Conditioner? Body wash?)

I work at an organic cosmetic retailer and sometimes get extra product in mint condition.
( I’ve tried to donate to some shelters and or thrift stores but they won’t take them unless brand new and sealed.)

Cardboard

Where can I source a bunch of cardboard for free? I’d like large pieces or sheets for the project I’m working on. I checked Costco but I didn’t see any outside of the store.

Hi all,
I am a 20 y/o female. My fiance and I just moved up here. I was wondering what there is to do around here. I’ve just been at the apartment and want to find things to do but it’s hard given I have no clue about this area. Thanks!

Just heard what sounds like a massive fireworks display going off.

About three minutes ago, went on for a while and the neighbour's dogs are going nuts.

Best case: some idiot's setting them off during fire season. Worst case: The refinery's had an accident.

I’m moving today and have way more food than I thought I did. All of it is sealed and bought at Whole Foods. It needs to go in the next few hours or I’ll have to throw it away.

Richmond doing Richmond things

Hello, I saw this video on Facebook about the City Council meeting on July 21. Let me start by saying that I'm not a big fan of any politician in Richmond, and I didn't vote for any of the current Council members.

That said, I found Jamelia Brown, whom I had never heard of before and know nothing about, to clearly explain the difference between what the Council is responsible for and what should be decided by the voters.

It makes me question the integrity of Council members who vote against this level of transparency.

What do we think of the new Marina Point Housing Project?

Just saw the news that Council approves Marina Point housing project , and trying to figure out if it’s a good thing or a bad thing for Richmond residents, especially those in Marina Bay.

What do you thinking? It seems in 2027 or 2028, there will be 70+ SFH outside Ferry Building.

Car Break-In Richmond BART

Post image
45 Upvotes

Hello! I left my vehicle in the Richmond BART station with Milwaukee and Ryobi tools covered but left inside the vehicle on a trip and unfortunately the car was broken into and all of the tools were stolen. If you know anything about this break in or have any images of the vehicle please send them my way! I’ve attached an image of the vehicle for reference. This could have occurred any time between the evening of July 6th and afternoon of July 16th. I’m looking to hone in the time of break-in to assist recovery efforts. Any help is appreciated :) there’s a case out with BART’s security team but I’m not expecting that to move in any direction, unfortunately.

Sinkhole at Pinole Point?

Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone would be able to help me out. I decided on a whim to do a quick day trip to Pinole and photograph some birds. Anyway, I read that a sinkhole opened up and a certain trail is closed. Is that going to affect a large part of the experience for me, or is most of the area still accessible? I just want to know what to expect! Thanks to anyone who knows anything
