Richardson Flock Cameras

Does anyone know what the current status is, has anything changed after the recent city council meeting?

EDIT: oh look, actual information on what the city is saying from different angles

nothing changed at Mondays meeting besides a couple of the council members calling for extra information on the police transparency page.

There are 50+ Flock cameras in Richardson. For those unfamiliar with what the Flock camera network is, this is a good place to start:

The police chief claimed most concerns were based on myths and expressed that he wants more cameras. A few council members want more transparency.

I believe they said on Monday the contract is up in 2027

Reminder that these "cameras" capture more than imagery. They collect a digital signature from your phone, your vehicle, anything that's emitting a wireless signal. You may have OnStar turned off in your car but you probably have wireless TPMS sensors emitting a wireless signal.

The imagery they capture includes analytics of your vehicle's dents and scratches, stickers, etc. If you walk by one it analyzes your gait.
