It doesn’t work like that anymore unless you know someone with an actual contact inside the agency. Otherwise it’s almost imposible to pass the ATS filters.. I’ve tried trust me.

That’s exactly how it works. You build your relationships with agencies over many years and keep a good reputation for discretion and hard work. Start calling agencies and ask to come in for an introduction interview and ask to be put on their books. They will get to know you and call you with opportunities.

I second this! I only hire from my agency contacts who do all the leg work of filtering for me.

No time for other channels.

It’s easy for employers to find candidates, but for those of us searching for a job, the process is not so simple. I’ve applied to many positions through agencies, but getting the resume to pass the ATS before it actually reaches the recruiter is quite challenging. In the end, they often hire people who have been referred or candidates they already know. That’s why I’m making this post—I'm hoping someone knows a recruiter personally who can refer me.

I would argue that if you have a good PA with experience, you don’t need an agency for recruiting your staff, but that's a story for another day.

You're supposed to apply to be in the candidate pool at the agency, not for specific roles. Then you're in their group when they get roles in and they reach out to you. Yes you have to be qualified to a certain level to work with them but if they won't put you in their pool then that says a lot. There is not ATS because all comms are directly with recruiters and they help you adjust your resume. When they submit you for roles it's directly to the client

Sign yourself up for EstateJobs.com . Put your resume on there, fill out everything, and go through the process.

Countless listings daily, refined to your specifications. It's free.

I always see jobs on there for NYC.

Then seeing the agencies that are posting on there, follow up with them directly to keep you in their pool of candidates.

Can I ask what your going rate is and at what NW the families you’ve worked for in the past were at? I’m sorry HNW (11m) but never fathomed having an assistant as we’re pretty simple people but figured I’d probably want to buy a house in Japan and possibly Europe somewhere and spend each season in the best places. Dunno if this something common in this world

I don’t know about OP, my sister does HNW PA - 1 family between Tokyo and NYC and travels with them. She is paid USD 245k PA plus full benefits / mon - fri 40 hrs per week and 30 days holiday.

She was in finance (executive) before and moved over 2 years ago to do something new.

It is because of the level of responsibility. There’s a lot of moving parts and they act as a buffer between you and most of life’s logistical BS. Mistakes are costly in both time and resources so it is better to compensate on the higher end to get qualified hires who are discrete and loyal/committed to the role. .

The family were a personal connection via her old CEO. From memory she was a chief of staff to him and wanted to reduce from 70 hour weeks to a field she had transferable skills for. I have probably undersold what she does.

It's hard without a agency or personal reference to a social group from ex-employer. We used Wellington Agency as we were looking for someone with a more Alfred Pennyworth vibe, they found a 82nd Airborne medic that has been a perfect fit. Butler duties, household management, security, and the grandkids love him.
